Order your copy of the New York Times bestseller Shot ready today@stephencurrybook.com hey, this is Matt Jones and I'm Drew Franklin and this is NFL Cover Zero. We're just here to try to give you an NFL perspective a little bit different. Did you see the Colts pretzel? That was my other big takeaway from that game.
Speaker B
What was that? Oh my.
Speaker A
We think NFL coverage should be informative and entertaining. And twice a week that is exactly what you're going to get. I'm Simone Boyce, host of the Bright side Podcast, and on this week's episode I'm talking to Olympian, World cup champion and podcast host Ashlyn Paris. My worth is not wrapped up in.
Speaker D
How many things I've won because what.
Speaker A
I came to realize is I valued winning so much that once it was.
Speaker D
Over, I got the blues and I was like, this is it for me.
Speaker A
It's the pursuit of greatness. It's the journey, it's the people, it's the failures, it's the heartache. Listen to the bright side on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker B
Oo. During the Cowboys jets game, Jerry Jones had no problem letting jets fans know how he really felt. Check out this video. Oo.
Speaker C
Let me see what, what Jerry talk about.
Speaker B
Can you see?
Speaker C
Yeah, I see it. I see it. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Stop playing with me. Yo, stop. Stop playing with me.
Speaker B
Middle finger make.
Speaker C
Hey, I might be the owner.
Speaker B
Yeah, I like middle finger. Might cause Jerry a little money. In 2009, Tennessee Titans former owner Rest in Peace Bud Adams will find 250, 000 for a similar incident.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
For a series of gestures made in the direction of Buffalo Bills fan the league fine, Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper $300,000 for throwing a drink in the direction of the Jacksonville Jags fan. Ocho, do you think a six figure fine is enough, enough of the deterrent or a punishment for a guy that has a franchise valued at 12 billion, who has a net worth of probably 15 billion.
Speaker C
Right. I mean, I mean, Jerry ain't tripping. Jerry not tripping. Tepper wasn't tripping. And young Bull that did it before that one trip, obviously fans probably heckling, you know how, you know how people feel about the Cowboys. You know how people feel about Jerry Jones? They don't like him. Lot of people don't like him. And he just want to, to let those people know, listen, I don't like y' all either. And he'll take this with you.
Speaker B
And he was waving, he was waving at Cowboy fans. And then hit the other one with that. That's for you, yo. That's for you.
Speaker C
Yeah, I mean, listen. Yeah, they, they probably, they gonna probably have.
Speaker B
Oh, they gonna find him. Yeah, they gonna find him. At least a quarter.
Speaker C
They gonna let him know, listen, Jerry, you know, you can't do that. You can't do that. You know, here's 500,000. Go ahead and do what you want with that. You know what you will. And just, just, well, here's a million.
Speaker B
Because I'm gonna get somebody else too. I'm just letting you know, I'mma get somebody else. I'm gonna be in somebody else stadium. And we go where? And they gonna be Heckler be. And I. I'm. I'm gonna show out on them, too, so. But yeah, Jerry. Look, Jerry knows J. He'll probably. I'm. I'm surprised he didn't mention it. He didn't mention. On his radio show today, but he was like, yeah, I know. I can't do that. Jerry's gonna say all the right things. But it's like, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker C
And that's the funny thing. When it comes to players, when it comes to owners, when it comes to quarterbacks, they always say the right thing. They always say the politically correct thing. And that's what I told you when we talked about, I think, last year, and you said, cam Ward can't say stuff like that because face of the franchise, you can't do that when you're representing an organization, whatever it may be. But I would love. I would love if we got back to a place where you just say exactly how you feel and how it really is right now at that moment. But it's just something you can't. But I just love. I would love that raw authenticity from players and owners when it comes to. To having. Being real.
Speaker B
For that, you gotta be careful. I don't know if you notice we getting back to a place that. Where it was previously. I don't know if you noticed it paying attention. I don't. I don't want it to go back like that.
Speaker C
Hey, I don't. I don't miss nothing.
Speaker B
Okay?
Speaker C
I don't miss nothing. I can see it little. Little by little. As a matter of fact, let me tell you how much I pay attention. Attention to all the distractions that they continue to have going on to make sure we ain't paying attention to the things that are changing behind closed doors.
Speaker B
You see it.
Speaker C
I see it all.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker C
I may play a fool on camera, but I ain't one off.
Speaker B
Nope. I. I think the biggest thing is. Is Roger Goodell. Commish probably called Jerry. Like, Jerry. Come on, Jerry. And Jerry goes out. He was having a little fun. He's having a little fun. Cause Jerry, he likes to have fun. He really is. I mean, look, having the little bit that I've been around him, he really is a great guy. He'll go into. If he. If you're out. If you ever see Jerry out and you somewhere, he gonna send you a drink. Thank you, Jerry. I don't drink. Well, here. Here's a soda. I'm trying to think. Oh. In Houston, when the. The Comeback, the Patriots, and I saw he draw. I don't think maybe the next year. When did Jerry go into the hall of Fame? But anyway, it might have been then because he was on the bus. He had his bus. He got a big old tour bus, and he got, like, the man cruiser, and he got the cowboy. Big cowboy logo.
Speaker C
Okay, right.
Speaker B
So that. So the next year. And. And he. Yeah, that was 20. Yeah. So. Yeah, 27. Yeah. So he got elected. So I was. Because I signed with. I was with Fox, and so it was a 2016 season. 2017. So that's when. Yeah, you're absolutely right. And so bad. I went on Jerry bus, man. His wife. We love you, but you got to lay off the Cowboys. The great. The grandkid was on there. Stephen. All of us on. It was. It was. But if you. If you ever around him, he really. I mean, he's really charming. He's really personable, so it's easy. He easy to like. I'm just telling you, he's really easy to like because he is so charming. He is so personable, and. And his family is the same way. But it. It was great. But Jerry know he can't do this. He the owner. They. They don't. They don't want the players to do that. You damn sure don't want. I mean, probably the de facto owner of all owners of all the sports. He's probably the most recognizable, the most visible. Yeah, he's the. He's the biggest owner. Proud of Mr. Steinbrenner.
Speaker C
Oh, yeah. Hey. Matter of fact, hey, shout out to my boy can bite him. I know you're probably gonna see this. I appreciate the jersey. It finally came. It finally came in the mail. I remember I forgot what show it was when I was excited when he scored it. He had an interception. He done. It's crazy celebration. I said, obviously, right now, you're probably one of my favorite players. Boom. They reached out to me. They got me a jersey. He signed it, too. I'm not supposed to be wearing it. I'm supposed to frame it. Yeah. My dog.
Speaker B
Is that a Colts jersey?
Speaker C
I can't. Yeah. Buying them. Yeah.
Speaker B
Okay.
Speaker C
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Cam. I appreciate that, boy. Hey, Unc. You see how big I done got? God, leave, bro. Hey, I'm. I'm swole. Hey, you know, hey, I got an email, too.
Speaker B
From who?
Speaker C
Hey, when I was in Vegas for the fight, When I was in Vegas for the fight, I went down and tried to audition for the Chippendales. They finally emailed me back.
Speaker B
They say they're not hiring.
Speaker C
No, they say. They say they hiring? They just had a spot open up. They had to fire some dudes. Yeah. So I'm thinking about relocating out there. When the season over.
Speaker B
No, I don't want you.
Speaker C
I may have a residency, A Chippendale residency right here.
Speaker B
I'm moving to Miami.
Speaker C
Okay, that's. That's fine. That's fine. Matter of fact. Hey, you know what's funny is you ain't even know. You just got back in town, huh? Yeah, you did do me a favor, right?
Speaker B
Look around.
Speaker C
Look around real quick and see what you see missing out of your room.
Speaker B
All I know is that you know what I told Ash. What you call them, man? Send Ocho this truck.
Speaker C
Hold on, hold on. You don't see nothing missing out of your room. I told you. I told you I was gonna come to Vegas when you wasn't in town. And when you. Hey, listen, when you walk in your house, it's a portrait to the right and a dog bowl to the left.
Speaker B
Where you. How you get my trophies?
Speaker C
I told you. I told you I'm gonna come out there and get my stuff.
Speaker B
You hear me?
Speaker C
Huh? I told you. Hey, hey.
Speaker B
You need me.
Speaker C
You got. You know what? Also, you need to work on your security system. All I did. All I did. I cut you. You got to get adt, because that system you got, that definitely ain't it. Hey, check your cameras. Check your cameras. Two days ago at 702. I'm gonna get 702pm I got.
Speaker B
I got it. I got.
Speaker C
Yeah, I appreciate. I appreciate that.
Speaker B
I got. I got a new one. I'm. I'm about to get Glock and Sig Sour my new security.
Speaker C
Hey, hey, I appreciate. I appreciate the trophies, though. Appreciate. That's love. Thank you. Thank you. Hey, the fact that I had to come break in just to get my stuff.
Speaker B
Shoot, you ain't getting no more, though.
Speaker C
Thank you, though.
Speaker B
You ain't getting no more.
Speaker C
Oh, I know how to get in now. I'm gonna just wait till you out of town.
Speaker B
Hey, that's all right. Y' all see. Hey, he broke. Hey, I'm glad, because I got. We. We taping this. So I'm just gonna turn this over to the Las Vegas Police Department, but.
Speaker C
They'Re not gonna be able to. They're not gonna be able to identify me because I was coming up.
Speaker B
No, but you tell it. You tell it right now yourself. But we taping this.
Speaker C
I mean, I could just tell them I was lying. There's really no.
Speaker B
He ain't lying. You telling the Truth. Because I missed the two trophies.
Speaker C
I appreciate that. It was good doing business.
Speaker B
I'm missing two trophies. So. You know what? Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. Chat y' all saw that, right? Chat y' all saw the man broke in the house. Now. Now he done got his trophy. Now send me my.
Speaker C
I had to come and get my trophies. I had to come and get them. That's a five hour flight from Miami. Five hour flight on spirit. I had to find where you lived at. Then I had to go through the goddamn.
Speaker B
The.
Speaker C
The house plans to ex. To know exactly where to enter and where to come out.
Speaker B
Man, you.
Speaker C
I had to cut the wires. I had to get the trophies. I had to rewire everything back together and then leave. That was a headache for me.
Speaker B
Can I get my 5,900 now?
Speaker C
I got you now. You know what? You now you can get it. You can get it now.
Speaker B
Thank you. I appreciate that. Man came in my house. Ash and Jordan was in on it because they know the code to the gate to get in. First of all, you gotta get through the gate.
Speaker C
Hold on for one. Gates. I jumped them. I jumped them because if. If the code, they'll be able to tell that somebody was there at that certain time. I don't need anything logged in. I don't need nothing logged in. I jumped that. That ain't nothing.
Speaker B
Yeah, that's okay. I got something for it, Chad. But y' all see that? He told you. Hey you. He told y' all what he did. So. So when something bad happened, I ain't responsible. When they say, hey, don't man, uncle have to do that? That ain't nothing but a little trophy they have of his anyway. I don't want to hear that.
Speaker C
I'm good. God on my side. God got me.
Speaker B
Yeah, that's all right. I will get you. I will get my money back now. I want my money now.
Speaker C
You got you good.
Speaker B
Nope. Nope. He done broken my house chat and took two of my trophies. My trophies.

Mike McDaniel says Dolphins owner Steve Ross is really frustrated. McDaniel, he's really frustrated, just like I was. We talked about the challenge ahead to get ready for the Chargers, and that was really the extent of it. Miami's 1 in 4 start is its worst since 2019. The team's previous two coaches, Brian Flores and Adam Gates, were fired at the end of their third season. Ross dismissed Joe Filburn after a 1 and 3 start in his fourth season. Tony Sperano after a 4 and 9 start in his fourth year in 2011. Ocho is Mike McDaniel officially on the hot seat?
Speaker C
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker B
On that last year?
Speaker C
Absolutely. He's on the hot seat. Listen, and personally, I love Mike McDaniel. I love Mike McDaniel. And as we always say, players get coach.
Speaker B
Absolutely.
Speaker C
They're not playing well. They're not playing well. The better the players you have on the field, the easier it is for you to win and have success. Right now, obviously, with Tyreek going offensively, even when Tyreek was there, they weren't playing correct things. Yeah, yeah. Things for the Dolphins just aren't going well as they were two years ago. When they were on fire. Offensively. Offensively. And it just. It's not good. I think they are in somewhat of a rebuild. I'm not even going to say somewhat. They're going to have to rebuild. They're going to have to tear down and start all over. They're going to have to tear down and start all over. And I'm hoping. I'm hoping that Mike McDaniel can make it through the season, but it's all going to be based on the players.
Speaker B
He making it. It's all going to be based on.
Speaker C
The players and whether they show up and. And show out on Sundays for their coach. If they don't, he might not make it to week eight.
Speaker B
He ain't gonna make it.
Speaker C
He might not make it to week.
Speaker B
He ain't gonna make it on. I mean, he might. Like I'm saying, this is last year in Miami. This it.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
No, Reek, even when they were. I mean, even when Reek was there last year, they weren't playing very well. Yeah. They had a 17 nothing lead against Carolina. Carolina walk them down. It's over.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
And I don't know what the reports are about, guys being late and this and that and stuff being overlooked. I don't know what's true, but. Right. There's probably some truth. There's even truth. There's a little truth even in a lie. But I understand. And for him to publicly speak, because this is the first time that I heard. I mean, that he and the owner spoke. They speak after. After every game. I didn't know that.
Speaker C
Yeah, you did. I. I think most coaches talk to the owners after games, especially when they aren't going. Well, there's nothing to talk about when.
Speaker B
You win, but let them ask your question.
Speaker C
But if we keep. We keep losing. Okay, now I got to answer to the head man. I got to answer the head boss, because not only my investment that I'm putting in you, but why are we not. Based on what I'm investing, why am I not getting a goddamn return on it? I need a return on that money.
Speaker B
But the fact that he mentioned that they. Okay, let's just say for the sake of argument, that's commonplace. Coaches don't normally mention about the conversation that transpired between the two.
Speaker C
Okay, okay.
Speaker B
That's what I. Okay, maybe. Maybe I phrased it wrong. I'm not surprised that they meet. I'm surprised that he divulged some of the things that they talked about in said meeting.
Speaker C
Talk about. Right, right. Yeah.
Speaker B
But. Yeah, I just you know, and, and the history is Ross, you know.
Speaker C
He got short pace.
Speaker B
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know if he got short. Patient. Look, Joe Philbin lasted four seasons. Tony, Tony Sparano lasted four seasons. Brian Flores and Adam Gaze, that lasted three season. So what year is this for Mike McDaniel? Three. Coming up on four. This is fourth season. Two, three, four, five. It's fourth season. Yeah, he good.
Speaker C
Okay.
Speaker B
And he probably got, they probably gave him a contract extension after he won, took the team to the playoffs. So he probably got a contract extension.
Speaker C
He good.
Speaker B
He's straight.
Speaker C
Yeah. Wait, what you mean straight straight? Is he not going?
Speaker B
No, he's straight about money. His money. Oh, no, no. He gone. He gonna, he gonna leave. I don't advocate anybody getting fired. But back to back seasons like this with the money that he spent into it, the money that he TR and the draft picks that he traded and those hot, you know, they paid a king's ransom to get Jalen Ramson. Now they did trade him and brought back Minka Fitzpatrick, but you know, they gave, spent a lot of money for Jalen's, for Bradley Chubb. They played a lot of money in Phillips. They just, they spent a lot of money and the return is just not there on the investment.
Speaker C
Yeah, man. Yeah, that, that sucks. That sucks. I'm curious where they're going to go, especially coaching wise. I think Tua they just paid tour last year, so probably has about maybe another three, maybe three.
Speaker B
They ain't gonna let Tour keep playing like this. He ain't gonna be there three years. He gonna have to pick it up. He gonna have to play better. You have to play better, right? And dang, that's just, that's just the way it is.
Speaker C
Right, right. Right. That's. That's a scary thing too. That's a scary thing. Especially as, as a player, you think you're safe, you think you've gotten paid. But obviously if you're not playing as well as you should be, especially when you're making a certain amount of money, especially at the most important position on the field, you know, as a quarterback, your team go as go your team go. If you're playing well, then everything flows really smooth because they do everything through you. If the quarterback ain't playing well, you goddamn defense better be all world they better be top one, top two. If they not, boy, it's going to be real hard to win games.
Speaker B
Very extremely difficult. And they're not, and they're not really, they're not anything special on either side of the ball. So when you're not special on either side of the ball, this is what you're going to get. You're going to get one in four and it's going to be a struggle because we see New England is pretty good this year. We see Buffalo. Buffalo is Buffalo. So there are no. What's, what's. Miami's next five games. It's not a.
Speaker C
Hey, matter of fact, you said New England is good.
Speaker B
Yeah.
Speaker C
Why, why is New England good? Because of who they got.
Speaker B
The Chargers. Next. Browns, Falcons, Ravens.
Speaker C
Bills.
Speaker B
Bills. They might. I mean, they can, they can, they can. You know, if Lamar is not back, they can beat the Ravens.
Speaker C
He ain't looking. Charges.
Speaker B
No Chargers gonna get charges.
Speaker C
Just charges. Just coming off, coming off a loss too. They definitely looking for somebody to take.
Speaker B
Their frustrations out on. Yeah, they're. That a. Right now people looking at the Dolphins like, okay, play the Dolphins and call me tomorrow. Like the doctor say, take two and hey, the Dolphins.
Speaker C
Basically the homecoming game. Who we want to schedule for homecoming?
Speaker B
Dolphins.
Speaker C
Dolphins. It's all good. Yeah, we gonna be all right. Everybody laugh now, but when we bounce.
Speaker B
Back, boy, y' all ain't bouncing back.
Speaker C
We'll be back. All right. Yeah.
Speaker B
When. When that gonna happen?
Speaker C
Give it. Give us through. Oh, we. We gotta rebuild now. We got the.
Speaker B
Is it going to happen in the 20s or the 30s?
Speaker A

Speaker C
Massage.
Speaker B
We got the gold medal winning 100 meter hurdle specialist woman. She has the American record of 1217. She's chasing that Toby Amundsen record, the Nigerian of 1212. And I think she's going to get it. Messiah, thank you for joining us.
Speaker D
Thank you for having me. How are you guys?
Speaker B
We're doing amazing.
Speaker C
What up, twins?
Speaker D
Nothing much.
Speaker B
The World Championships did not go as planned. I mean, you have been running up until that running really well. You go 12, 17, you're in the 20s, low 20s the entire season and for whatever reason you weren't able to put it together in the finals of the World Championships. If you don't mind, explain. What do you think? What do you think went wrong?
Speaker D
I think a lot went wrong. Of course, as everyone knows, I was, like you said, running all these crazy times throughout the year, but I'm not the type to make up any excuse as into why I didn't get the job done. I think the main thing was just not the best planning going into the meet. And me and my coach kind of talked about that and I can assure you that those things won't happen again. And a lot of different things went into, like, a lot of things had a reason as into why I didn't do what I needed to do. But like I said, I'm not in the business of making up excuses. I'm young. That was my second global final. The first one I won. The second one didn't go as planned, but I can assure you that it won't happen again.
Speaker B
Yeah, that's what, that's what we like to hear. Messiah, when you, when. Look, I got kids older than you, but I know the. I know women hurdlers, so I go back, I know great Gail Divas and Joanna Hayes and Don Harper and Lolo Jones. Yes, I, I. And when, when. And Brianna Rollins when we swept in Kenny Harrison when she set the world record. Your donkey. Donkey. I was around when your Danka donkey was set the world record in 88 of 1221. She also won the Olympics in Seoul that year. So I, I know I, I know the women I follow. I love track and field. I don't know if you can tell, but I love track and field. It is my favorite. I was a professional football player. But the sport that I love to watch, that I really enjoy, it is the only sport that I watch with the sound. On all the other sports I watch, there is no sound. I love to hear Otto Bolton. I love to hear Sonia Richards. Ross. Carol Lewis used to be on the call as the, as the lady that called the, that called the track and field. But I say that to say this. How soon can we expect you to challenge that world record?
Speaker D
Hey, man, I feel like whenever it's meant to happen, it's going to happen. I got another meet this weekend, but yes, shout out to aflos. They're giving us another opportunity, another platform, all women's meet to do our thing. But, you know, I don't know when it's gonna happen. And I feel like for me personally, I'm not like on a timeline to like, when am I gonna break the work, when am I gonna break the world record? You know, I know when I run my fastest times, I'm not thinking about what I'm gonna do. It just kind of happens. And I feel like when you're like reaching and searching and trying to like break a record or run a fast time, it never happens. So for me, whenever it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. Just like when I ran at 12:17 and at 12:19, it didn't feel like it, it just happened. So, you know, at the end of the day, whenever it's meant to be, it's gonna be.
Speaker B
You got your cash out ready? They say they swipe that car they had ca. They put that thing in right up immediately.
Speaker D
No, I'm ready. I got it ready. I already got the app downloaded. I didn't sit the wire transfer, the banking number, router number. I got everything.
Speaker B
Yeah, go ahead, Ojo.
Speaker C
Hey, what, what part? What part? When do you get a break? When do you get to relax? When do you have downtime to do some of the things you love to do outside of track?
Speaker D
So I think I run at 7:20. The break starts at 7:21. I'm gonna be chilling after that. I'm chilling for like two months. I don't want to hear, I don't want to smell, I don't want to think of a track. So I'm actually going to Miami as my vacation. So I'll be in your city.
Speaker C
Okay? Okay. Okay.
Speaker B
I wanna know what's in the water at Bullis. I'm trying to figure out how the hell Quincy Wilson, yourself, all these people come out of this one school. What is going. What, what is it? What's the track program? I'm trying to figure out what y' all got going on.
Speaker D
It's low key, like a college program, but it's just in a high school setting. You know, I just think it's the coaches. I think the coaches just have like really maximized, like wanting to be a good program. And yeah, I just think that they've done the research. They want to be the best. You know, somebody got to be the best. Somebody has to do it. Somebody has to put the work in. And I think those coaches over there just, they understood what they wanted to do. And you know, every year, ever since I was a junior and senior, they've been killing it ever since. So for programs, it just like continued to produce like world, like, I mean, honestly, world class talent like me. I mean people, most of the people at Wendy won. Quincy Wilson got a gold medal. Last year, I got a gold medal. So, you know, I feel like the proof is in the pudding. And if you want right fast, you already know where to go.
Speaker B
What made you go to. I'm. I'm anxious. I'm trying to figure this out. Sid, Sid McLaughlin, LeBron, she goes to Kentucky. You go to Kentucky. Now at the time, Kentucky was not that program. I forget the other sprinter, the 100 meter specialist, she run the 100 to 200, she ran the 400. Abby Steiner, she went to Kentucky. But when I look at programs, lsu, Texas, Arkansas, usc, I'm like, wendy, Kentucky. I know Edric, he's now the head coach at a. Maybe he was your coach, but I think now he's at the University of Texas. Was he your coach at Kentucky?
Speaker D
No. So I was a year late. Right when he left, I came in. So then Rolando Green became the head coach there and he's been the head coach. He's my coach and he's been. Who's been coaching me ever since. Like I was like first step foot on the campus and then now still my professional coach. But I don't know, I don't know what's in the Kentucky border. I know it's like, hurdle you. And I think that we're like doing our big one in terms of that because it's me, Jasmine Camacho, Quinn, Kenny Harrison.
Speaker B
Yes.
Speaker D
Like, it's just like every single year, like, it's a hurdle. They're doing their thing. So. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I just think it's. I don't know, it's just one of them programs that, like, I think have had a lot of. Just a lot of good luck and success and some hardworking people in the hurdles and then even just like outside of the hurdles, but definitely the most stacked in the hurdle.
Speaker B
Yeah. Yes.
Speaker C
You know, it was funny too, is I'm thinking about in high school, you know, I was, I was a track runner. I was very fast, you know, in the hundred. I was. I was nine. Nine, right? No, 1010 flat. And I ran into two, 100 yard dash.
Speaker D
Okay, 100 yard.
Speaker C
Not me.
Speaker B
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker C
No, no 100. No 100 meter. Hey, Uncle. I wouldn't. I was 9, 8, 9, 9 in high school now. I just. Yeah. So I'm. I'm thinking about my. You know, my daughter's at Kentucky, obviously. You know, my daughter's on the track team at Kentucky too. So I'm thinking I still got some eligibility, so I'm thinking about enrolling and, and running to. Seeing if. Seeing if I could. I could probably. No do a little something.
Speaker B
Okay.
Speaker D
You gonna come to Kentucky? You gonna come meet teammates with baby Shot?
Speaker C
Yeah, I'm gonna be. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker B
That's never been done with his grades. He couldn't get in prison. You ain't got that to worry about, baby. He's straight. He, he, he good. He good. So you just.
Speaker D
Yeah.
Speaker B
Besides, we had, we had Melissa Jefferson on and we was talking to her and this was before she actually ran. And I said, you know what I said watching you run, I said, there have been very few women only in. In recently. Back up 106 with another 10 6. So you could tell she was in tip top form. I say you have the people in the world championship. When you look at who's around and you look at. You had to lose Smith and you had Sha' Carri, and you had Julian Alfred and you had Dina Asher Smith. You had all these women in there. So you had the people that can push you. You had the condition even on a rainy track. And she ran what she ran. I said, if you get a tape, a favorable win, I said, I think you can go sub 10 5. I mean, sub 10 6.
Speaker D
Yeah.
Speaker B
She said in her mind she thought she could run low 10 5. I say that to ask you. You get the ideal conditions, you get a start, you get a Tia Jones, you get Ahmanson, and you get kombucha in that race, and you get perfect condition. You say you don't think about it, but you know you're gonna probably need to run low in order to be first to the tape.
Speaker D
Yeah, absolutely. I mean, that's always the mindset lining up against the women turtles. I mean, we're definitely the most competitive event across the board. And that's the thing. If you're not showing up as your best, like, it's gonna be tough to bring a win. Like, it ain't ever gonna be an easy win in the women's hurdles. But I know for me personally, the way that, like, I view myself and the way that I am and the way that my work ethic is, it's just like, I know when I'm at my best and when I'm mentally locked in and physically locked in, it's not a lot of people that can humbly compete with me. And I feel like I've showed that, like, I don't have the world record, but I'm the. No, I'm the only woman to ever run 121 twice in. In the same year. So even though, you know, Tokyo didn't go as planned, everything always happens for a reason. So like I said, that's gonna be the first and last time that y' all ever see that happen. And. Yeah, I mean, I know, like, I'm a game time competitor. I'm a big time competitor, so at the end of the day, like, I' ma show up when it counts.
Speaker B
You're not the word. You don't have the world record yet.
Speaker D
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker C
Matter of fact, you know, I. I have a question too. As a. As a former hurdler with much experience, obviously there are different phases and strengths and weaknesses when it comes to. When we do run. When it comes to you, when it's time to run the hurdles, what do you think the strongest part of your race is? Is it the beginning, is it the middle, or the.
Speaker D
All right, this gonna sound kind of cocky, but go ahead, talk.
Speaker C
Talk your shit the whole race.
Speaker D
I know you don't care, but, like, you can't like running. Being a 12 bar hurdler, that's not like a bad part of your race. But I think my. What I'm most known for is definitely the back end and that's what, like, separates me from most. But, you know, I think what changed this year is that I got, like, the start mixed with the finish. So, like you said, perfect conditions, perfect setting. Even when I ran the 121 at Grand Slam, like, it was a great track, perfect win, perfect temperature. Yeah. I mean, it was just. It was just a great day. And then when I ran my 12 one in Poland, it was, like, fast track, good energy, good vibes. Like, I felt good. So, you know, like I said, at the end of the day, when it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. I'm, like, getting closer and closer, so it's. I'm definitely feeling for it. And it's gonna happen when it's supposed to.
Speaker C
Hey, are you. Are you superstitious, or do you do the same routine before every race? Do you have the same meal?
Speaker D
I, like, cut back. Because, I mean, I definitely. Well, when I was, like, in high school and honestly in college, I don't know what I was thinking about before I competed. I'm like. I just was like. I feel like I was like a little baby just out there competing. But then when I went pro, like before the Olympics, like, my mind, my whole mindset just completely changed. So I think that now I definitely have a routine. But I try not to, like, be so picture perfect, because it's like, at the end of the day, it ain't never gonna be the same. It's never gonna be, like, you can't replicate it. So you can do certain things that are the same, but you just got to show up and run. Like, at the end of the day, I tell myself I'm fast. So that's all it is. Like, if I'm fast, I'm fast. It don't matter what the weather is, what the time is, how it is. It just. It is what it is. So just believe in that and just be true today. And you gonna run fast. So I try not to, like, get too caught up.
Speaker B
We had a court.
Speaker C
One. One more thing. I have a question. When it comes to diet, are you one that is free when it comes to what you consume, or do you. Are you strictly on. Okay. I always got to eat healthy. Everything always has to be good for my body. Or do you have a healthy balance of. Okay, I'm gonna eat McDonald's, like, ocho. But also, on the other hand, I'm gonna make sure I eat.
Speaker D
Yeah. So I feel like in the off season, I go kind of. Kind of crazy. But, like, in season, I just try to stay away from the fried foods, just because, like, I've learned a little more about, like, nutrition and how it processes in your body. So now, you know, when I was in high school, you know, I'll be doing a chick fil a for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, like, you know, but I just try to eat just clean, like, not even just, like, as an athlete, just, like, as a human.
Speaker C
Right.
Speaker D
And we run and, like, the way my coach trains, we get around the track. So if you're not fueling the right way, you're gonna feel terrible. So for me, like, I just stay away from, like, the fried foods. But I love a good sweet. I can't lie. Like, I'm always gonna get a little sweet every now and then.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker D
See, you still eat McDonald's.
Speaker C
Yeah, that's why. Why you think I look like this?
Speaker D
Oh, my God. I can't believe you still eat McDonald's. You and child, y' all gotta stop.
Speaker B
Yeah, he not. He not. He's not gonna stop, though.
Speaker C
I am.
Speaker D
You eat McDonald's?
Speaker B
No.
Speaker C
That's why he's so small.
Speaker B
No, no, I eat. I have. I eat. I try to eat. I eat healthy. I probably of. I eat. Try to eat three to four times a day. So that's 28 meals. So 20. At least 25 of them will be tremendous. Rice, broccoli, carrots, chicken, ground turkey, lean cuts of pro. Lean cuts of beef, stuff like that. And then, you know, I might have. You know, I might have a sausage biscuit or something like that. But the majority of the time. Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Speaker D
Ocho.
Speaker B
No. Hell, no.
Speaker C
That's vegetables. Well, you ain't never had a Big Mac with lettuce. Vegetables. They come with tomatoes too.
Speaker B
Man. They don't put no tomatoes on no Big Mac.
Speaker C
I get. I get. I get tomatoes on my Big Mac. What you talking about?
Speaker B
You see? You see what I'm saying? He's not gonna go to class. He had. He had one class all day. He was in the same classroom the whole day. He not going back to school. That's why I don't. I. I got. I got to keep an eye on him. When we go places, I gotta. I got a leash. He locked on my arms because he'll wander off.
Speaker C
See, listen, I ain't want to tell you about. I was trying to save it. I didn't want to let nobody know, but obviously University of Kentucky offered me a one year scholarship. They offered me a one year scholarship. I sitting out filming. I sent the footage in. They saw me run the hunted.
Speaker D
Who Recruited you? Was it Coach Green?
Speaker B
No.
Speaker C
Yeah, Coach Green. He said. He said, listen, I. I'm thinking about giving you a scholarship. Can you come in and run the one and the two?
Speaker D
Bro, why are you like this?
Speaker B
They. I don't know. They saw. They saw it run. They saw him leaving the mall. They said, yeah, he might can run.
Speaker D
The hunter, right?
Speaker C
Hey, y'. All. Hey, y' all don't believe in me. Y'.
Speaker B
All.
Speaker C
Y' all two acting like my high school teachers, man. They told me about my. I'm telling you. I'm prove you wrong.
Speaker B
Messiah, thank you for joining us. Congratulations on winning gold in the past Olympics. Look, things didn't work out. Sometimes you have a. You fall. Everything was feeling great. And I know you wanted to back up, you know, consolidate the globals with a. With a goal in. In Tokyo. But it didn't happen. Hey, you get a chance Saturday. Enjoy your time off and come back next year. What is the ultimate championships the next year, right?
Speaker D
Ultimate championships are in September next year.
Speaker B
Okay, so let me. Before we get you out of here. So now you're gonna take a month or two off. Chill, relax, you know, eat, you know, eat some. You know, I don't know. Do you like breakfast? You like pancakes? You like.
Speaker D
Yes, breakfast is my favorite meal.
Speaker B
Breakfast is my favorite meal also. So.
Speaker C
So.
Speaker B
So how soon before you get back and start, you know, doing a little light jogging, doing a little passive stretching? Get back in the weight room. How. What? November. December 1st of the year.
Speaker D
The November sound a little too close, but a little too close, too. After you, almost.
Speaker B
So the first of the year, huh?
Speaker D
I'm pushing more towards the first of the year. I probably started getting up, getting moving a little bit like in December, just to get my feet back under myself. But I was showing up for actual training with my coach probably into the first of the year. Yeah.
Speaker B
So what do you. What? Where do you train, if you don't mind me asking?
Speaker D
I train it still at the University of Kentucky.
Speaker B
Okay, so. Okay, so you live in Kentucky. Okay.
Speaker D
Yes.
Speaker B
Well, congratulations. Continue success. Stay healthy.
Speaker C
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. Wait, hold on, hold on. I just thought about something. 60 meter hurdles. If we race, you think you'll beat me?
Speaker D
Wait, if we both did the hurdles? If you run a flat 60. And I'm going over hurdles.
Speaker C
No, I'm going over her. I'm a hurdle runner.
Speaker B
She'll beat you in the 60, Ocho.
Speaker C
Hold on, hold on. Messiah. I done beat Grant Holloway in practice.
Speaker D
You got your answer, then you beating Me? You smoking me?
Speaker C
Okay, I just want.
Speaker B
I got Masai against you in a straight 60 period.
Speaker C
What, like with no hurdles?
Speaker B
No hurdles. I got Masiah against you up to Kentucky.
Speaker D
You already know where I stay.
Speaker B
I got Masai against you straight up 60 meters.
Speaker C
Okay, bet, bet, bet. Okay, bet, bet. I'm there. Matter of fact, I beat you and.
Speaker B
My daughter, you know, as a matter of fact. And guess what? When it happened, besides March, Around March or April, when you back in shape, we gonna come down there and we gonna. We gonna put it. We gonna put it on. We gonna put the money on the ground.
Speaker D
Put the money on the floor.
Speaker B
That's what.
Speaker D
Put it on the floor.
Speaker B
Hey, and when you. When you run by, I want you to pick it up as you crossing the line first. You go ahead and grab it. You go ahead and grab it because money out of sight. Cause a fight. Messiah, thank you for joining us. Congratulations on all your success. Continued success. Hey, come back and join us sometime soon.
Speaker D
Thank you guys so much. I appreciate y'.
Speaker C
All. All right.
Speaker B
Thank you. Messiah Russell, American olympic champion, the 100 meter hurdles, and she's the American record holder with a 12:17. She's the only woman to have two sub 12, 20 hurdle races. Congratulations. We'll see you down the road.
Speaker C
Bye.
Speaker B
Bye. Ocho Bingo's coach, Zach Taylor isn't relinquishing one of his team's most important duties. Taylor confirmed today he will retain his role as team's offensive play caller after the Bengals suffered their third straight loss, 37 24, home defeat to the Lions. Cincinnati mustered just three points through the first three quarters for the third consecutive week. Taylor said he'll continue his dual capacity he's held since taking over the team's head coach in 2019.
Speaker C
Yeah, he don't need to relinquish nothing. I know what they need to do. Can I tell you what they need to do? Now, that's my team. And I love them. I love them to death. But, boy, I don't care if you had Jesus and the 12 disciples, that quarterback, they gonna be running for their life. But Jake Browning, he get the ball before he could even turn the ball around and grab the laces to look down the field to see where he want to throw the ball. Boy, he running for his life. You hear me?
Speaker B
Stop calling all that scat protection then.
Speaker C
Hey, but. But let me. Let me tell you something, Zach Taylor, what do we need to do? If you understand there's a weakness at the office of line, what do we do? Okay, we got Jake Brown to end shotgun. Let's go. Quick game. Condense the goddamn splits. Run crosses, run whips, run the stick routes, allow him to get in the rhythm to get the ball out of. Get the ball out his hand fast. You know, there are way there. There are ways to manipulate the play calling because there's a certain weakness up front. You can do that, right? You can do that. Two seconds. This NFL, if them boys can't block for two seconds to allow them to get the ball out and shotgun, they don't need to be on the goddamn team. I saw a lab with my. With my own eyes on the safety. On the safety he took.
Speaker B
Yeah, I saw that. That loop around.
Speaker C
What are we doing? It was one second. One second. It's one on one. No disrespect to the guard. You can't do that at this level. How do you whiff? He didn't even make a good move. He stepped. He stepped to the right and he. And he went to the left and you whiffed completely.
Speaker B
He did.
Speaker C
That's the NFL. Come on, man.
Speaker D
Well.
Speaker B
He about to lose both of those duties at the end of the season, unfortunately. Ocho.
Speaker C
Yeah. Oh, another thing. I'm glad you said it. Chase. Chase, I love you to death. I don't care if they know what we running. I don't care if they know every play. Boy, you the best in the league. We pay you 40 million if the ball in the vicinity. You get jiggy with it like you did the other day. I don't care if they know the plays. Every time it come your way, you make magic. Black make magic. No excuses, none. You wear number one for a reason. For a reason. You the best in the game for a reason. Every time you come out that huddle, boy, you got to get in six. Yeah, well, I don't care what the play is. Come to me. Double team, triple team, four people on me. Just throw it, put it in the area. You know, I heard Chase say that they, you know, they know what we're doing. They know the play that's coming, man. Boy, you wear one for a reason. We pay you 40 million for a reason. I don't care if they. I don't care if they got the playbook.
Speaker B
Ocho get jiggy. Ocho, you might catch some passes, but they know what you're doing. You're not gonna win a whole lot of games. You know that, right?
Speaker C
I know. Okay. I'm with you. Right. Hey, listen, I'm getting a little emotional. I'm getting a little Emotional. Hey, man, you got me. You got me losing my voice.
Speaker B
No, you've been. See. Hey, Chad, this man been sick for three weeks.
Speaker C
Hold on. I'm not sick.
Speaker B
That man been sick for three weeks. Chatty. Y' all know it. Look. Oh, my goodness.
Speaker C
Hey, hey, hey, hey. Guess who. Guess who was our leading tackle in the game?
Speaker B
Chase.
Speaker C
Yep, as a matter of fact, because Jamar Chase was the leading tackler and he led us in the receiving yards, we need to pay him some more money because he playing both sides of the ball. He's doing the job he's not asked to do. What you doing, man?
Speaker B
You bet. Everybody heard you cough. I don't know what that is.
Speaker C
Not because I'd be smoking. That's all. Hey, maybe. Maybe I need. Hey, you think I need to take a off day, man?
Speaker B
Look here, I don't know what you got going on, Ocho, but you got to cut that out. I mean, three weeks, man.
Speaker C
It just happened.
Speaker B
No, no, no. That thing been going on for chat. Chad. How long Ocho been sick?
Speaker C
When I. When I was on my. When I was on a flight on the Spirit flight from Vegas, the fight was.
Speaker B
Man, that fight been three weeks ago. Oh.
Speaker C
Hey, you know, I smoke about three, four sticks a day. That don't make it no better.
Speaker B
You keep on coming like that, they ain't gonna let you in London.
Speaker C
Oh, they ain't got no choice.
Speaker B
Yeah, they do.
Speaker C
Hey, hey, hey, I. I'm gonna. I need. What's the name? Information. You know, I go to New York. I'm in New York Tuesday and Wednesday, and I flat. Havoc.
Speaker B
Shoot.
Speaker C
I want to meet. I want to meet Foxy. And look, Kim, I need an autograph.
Speaker B
Well, I ain't got it.
Speaker C
The hell I know, I know. I'm just saying, I fly to London on Thursday, so. Matter of fact, you know, I get to sit. I get to sit with Goodell at the Broncos game, huh?
Speaker B
Havoc and wake. 1 want to know if you want to come by rehearsal.
Speaker C
Yeah, man, what's up? I get. I get. I get to New York. Tell him I get to New York tomorrow at 1 o'. Clock. I have her. I have a rental where we go.
Speaker B
Wherever they watch it. He's sick.
Speaker C
Yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Matter of fact, y' all can put me on the track. Put me on the track. I could rap.
Speaker B
Yeah, I wanted to put him on the eight track. Somebody ain't never coming out.
Speaker C
Nah, nah, nah. Hey, you know, hey, listen, my penmanship is cold, Uncle. You hear me, man?
Speaker B
You just told a Man, Hey, I could.
Speaker C
Hey, I write with the best of them now. Sometimes the delivery ain't what it should be, but I wouldn't. Jay Z before Jay Z. Oh, Joe.
Speaker B
Can you write incursive?
Speaker C
Who, me?
Speaker B
Oh, Ocho. I asked Ocho.
Speaker C
Yeah, can I write? Can I write a cursive? I could talk incursive.
Speaker B
Yeah, I think you could write crazy.
Speaker C
I could talk. I could talk in cursive, man.
Speaker B
That joke. Hey, that joker, 55 years old, is still printing. Oh, you.
Speaker C
Hey.
Speaker B
Oh, hey.
Speaker C
This is what I do.
Speaker B
C, H, o. Oh, no.
Speaker C
Hey, I got some of the prettiest handwriting in the world. You hear me? I used to write love letters to all my girls.
Speaker B
Oh, my goodness.
Speaker C
Yeah, during the day, I used to write love letters. Matter of fact. Matter of fact. Hey, chat, if you got a girlfriend, when the last time you use your pen to tell your girl how you feel about her? Have you ever been able to express yourself on paper like me? That's what I do. I write. I write letters. I write. That's how. That's how I get them. You got to think, if I don't spend no money, how do I always end up with some of the most beautiful women in the world? Unc, you know why? Because my pen is phenomenal. I don't spend no money. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness. I've never had anyone write me a love letter before. This is so thoughtful. Let me give you a chance.
Speaker B
They say, they say, they say they know why. They know why you end up with some of the most beautiful women in the world. The chat say they know why. We got nothing to do with me. Ain't none of my business. I don't even know why I brought it. I don't even know why I brought it up. Ain't none of my business. So I ain't got nothing to say.
Speaker C
Hey, hey. You know, you know, you know.
Speaker B
My.
Speaker C
Representation, you know, it's beside me. You know they used to call me in high school.
Speaker B
You didn't go to high school. You went to the trailers behind the high school. Yeah, but what they call you, Ojo? What they call you?
Speaker C
They used to call me the plumber.
Speaker B
Oh, Lord of mercy.
Speaker C
Yeah. Yeah. They used to call me the plumber in high school. Ate them some good days on. And the fact that it's carried over for so long. I'm in my 50s, and they still call me the plumber. Now, I, I, I, I. It's hard for me to hold on to something for a long time.
Speaker B
Yeah. You hear me?
Speaker C
Yeah, yeah, it's hard, but, you know, I. I do what I do in the time with you.
Speaker B
You do, huh? Yeah, that's what they say. Lord have mercy. This man here. North Carolina Tar Heels have started Bill Belichick area era with a 2 and 3 record. And three losses were blowouts against TCU, UCF and Clemson. Discontent is building around the program, according to a report by Pat Welter WRAL News. It's all starting at the top and these boys are being affected. A parent of a current UNC player told Welter. I don't fault the players. I fought the leadership that created the toxic environment. There is an individualistic mindset. The boys are young and they're feeding into it. It's an unconstructed mess. There's no culture, no organization. It's a complete disaster. According to the report, the players who were recruited by Belichick and the transfer portal have been given preferential treatment. Parents have questioned the lack of communication from the coaching staff. And hiring decisions Belichick made in his coaching staff, including bringing aboard two of his sons and the son of general manager Mike Lombardi, are being viewed by some players as nepotism. The lack of experience the coaches have is ridiculous. A source told Welter. They've always done that. Somehow they've convinced us and it's a lot of us. Because when LeBron James do it, that's all y' all throw. But y' all see he got two of his son and he brought another son.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
So we're the only ones that look at nepotism as a bad thing. We get in a position to help a family member or a friend, we won't do it because us look like us say, oh, man, that's nepotism. He shouldn't have get that job. But they do it all the time, Right? It was reported, if I'm not mistaken. What? It was reported that if he leaves, his son would get the job, Steve would get the head coaching job. Let's look that up.
Speaker C
Right?
Speaker B
They do it all the time. Coaching, waiting.
Speaker C
I mean, that's been going on for a very long time. Huh? I'm not sure why they're surprised now. I'm not sure why they're reports about it now. That's the way it's always been. It's been like that. Yes.
Speaker B
Coaches look at. Look at. Look at Jerry. Look at Jerry's who. He got his daughters, he got his son. He got all his kids working for it. Yeah.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
Most coaches hire coaches. There's kids and Family. Yeah, that's because he left the job. He's the DC At. What did DC At? Washington, Steve. I think he was a DC At Washington. Nepotism is. Everybody else can do nepotism. It's. We. We look at it as a bad thing. Right. I, like I said, my kids don't. Don't want to be in the profession that I'm in. Okay, fine, do your own thing. I never pushed them in any direction. I just say, would you go direction? Hey, I'm gonna give you a shove. Just be the best you can possibly be. Do it all the time. What's the problem now? It seems to be that they're looking at, like, well, the people that's in position, they're not qualified to be in said position. Qualifications only matters to us, right?
Speaker C
That too. I. Wait a minute. Now, when it comes to the coaches, people in those positions have a background in football. They all have a background. They've been doing it for a very long time. Actually, we're doing it at the highest.
Speaker B
But here's the thing.
Speaker C
So coming down to the. Coming down to the collegiate level, they had the experience in being able to coach.
Speaker B
And yes, I don't got no problem with that.
Speaker C
Okay? Right.
Speaker B
But they started at the top. They didn't start in coach college or high school. They worked their way up. They got put on the staff because my daddy was the head coach, or they got put in position because my dad was the general manager or my dad was the owner. So it was no working your way up. And I don't got no problem with that. I don't have a problem with it. Just like I don't have a problem if LeBron helped his son get on the Lakers or get to the NBA. So what? They do it all the time. But Coach Belichick got a problem with his hands. Now, I don't. I don't know if this. I don't know if this is true. I'm willing to give the man a couple of years, Ocho, because it's different now. Guys come and they go. You got the transfer portal, and you got this and that, and it's different. And because you got this nil and you got this collective and you got all of that, you got these. These kids now. It ain't just about no. No sneakers. Hey, you need. You need to break these kids off. They need to see it.
Speaker C
Yeah, that's it. That's it. You got. You get this. You gotta. You gotta play.
Speaker B
Ain't no more waiting three, four years. Don't you to get paid. You know I can get. I prepare your. I can. I can't prepare your son for the NFL. I know what it takes. I coached at an elite level. I've won championship. This is okay. But in the meantime, if you think I'm gonna come to your university and I'm gonna wait four years to make money, you wasting your time.
Speaker C
That ain't happening.
Speaker B
No, I mean, if I, I ain't gonna be. Hold. I ain't gonna lie. Hell, if I was. If I was a kid, you couldn't. You come seeing the Mary Porterhouse. What you talking about? Why you even come here? You see how I'm living? You think my grandma gonna live like this for another three years? Man, you watch your damn mind. Oh, hell no. I don't know what's true. Look, this is a, this is a report and I'm sure it has a lot to do with. Because people, I'm sure there are some that thought Coach Belichick was going to pick right up where he left off in New England in the heyday. No, it takes time. These are young kids. They're going to make mistakes. Even professionals make mistakes. These kids are going to make mistakes. But it's different. We look at them different now. Ocho. You know why? Because we used to say, Ocho before, man, they ain't getting paid. When you get paid, you get looked at at a different level. I don't care how old you are, you're making money now.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
18, 19 year old Jeremiah Smith got $4 million. The Williams kids, Alabama 1.8. You see, Carson Beck got 4 million. Arch Manning making 6. No, no, no, ain't no more. No, no, no, no, bro, you getting paid, you basically a professional.
Speaker C
And the funny thing about it is everybody you just name they're playing their wage.
Speaker B
You got to.
Speaker C
They're playing, they're playing up to their wage. They have to. They have to. You know, and. And all it is, all it is is I call it a starter pack. It's a starter pack that was going to be like when you get to the next level because the. The purse is going to be much bigger than what it is.
Speaker B
The expectation.
Speaker C
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Speaker B
So are the expectations. LeBron James sent the Internet into a tizzy on Monday when he posted a cryptic tease for his second decision on social media. Ocho, do you have any guesses what this is about? Tickets that were normally to get in $85 are now $485 for his last home game for the Lakers. The last Home game. The Lakers played the regular season in 2026. Tickets. Those tickets are going for. The cheapest tickets are $485.
Speaker C
Damn.
Speaker B
He may put a tease, I guess. You know, some people say it's a business venture. He has something with Amazon coming out. Is it retirement? I don't. I don't know.
Speaker C
Yeah, I mean, obviously. I mean, I don't think he would be discussing or talking about retirement or putting out a cryptic tweet about anything when it comes to retiring before the season starts, whatever it is, I'm sure it's probably business related. And you never know when it comes to LeBron, he has so many things going on. True surprises. So you. You probably really don't know.
Speaker B
No, you don't.
Speaker C
You really don't know.
Speaker B
But the Internet is going crazy. It doesn't strike me as something that he would do like he gonna let you know. LeBron plays everything close to the vest. He didn't let anybody know that he was going to leave Cleveland until he left. Yeah, he didn't let anybody know he's going to leave Miami until he left. He let anybody know he was leaving Cleveland again until he left.
Speaker C
Right.
Speaker B
So this is very uncharacteristic of him. If it was a, A basketball decision, let's. Let's say that. Keep it basketball related. Now, he could ask that, you know, he could say like, I got this new company or I'm entering into this agreement with Amazon or Google or Microsoft or whatever the case may be, that's one thing. But business related. LeBron James has played it very, very close to the best for 20 plus years.
Speaker C
Absolutely. Absolutely.
Speaker B
No, I gotta find me another player. I gotta find me another guy to root for. I don't know who it's gonna be, who y' all think I should be, who. Who should I get behind.
Speaker C
To root for, basketball wise?
Speaker B
No, that ain't happening. Ain't no Webby. I'm trying to think who I really like. I like Jokic. I got yoke. I gotta pick between Yo, Jokic, Luca and Ant Man.
Speaker C
Ant Man.
Speaker B
Ant man from the crib. Damn. But I've been on Luca. I've been with Luca for the jump and yoke. Guess I'm gonna have me three.
Speaker C
Oh, yeah.
Speaker B
But everybody's going crazy wanting to know what LeBron is going to do. 10, 7 is when he gonna announce it, right? Tomorrow. Oh, the day is the. Oh, tomorrow, the 7th. Man, he day be going so fast. I don't know what the hell be going on. Huh? Yeah, yeah. I'll just count that. Hold on. November, December, I got about. About 85. About 85 more days in 25. And then your boy, like a scout on a new route.
Speaker C
He out. There it is. There it is. There it is.
Speaker B
You say boat.
Speaker C
Come on. Hey, let me tell you. Let me come. Come on. Come on back home. Get it. Get a people what they want.
Speaker B
All right, guys, it's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A, Triple X. Copsanity said Ocho broke in but didn't leave your 5,900. He didn't. The least he could have did. I mean, I. I read this story where somebody broke into this lady, broke into this guy house and cleaned the house, wash the clothes, cleaned the kitchen, wash the dishes and everything. You broke into my house, steal my merchandise, and they leave my money.
Speaker C
Well, actually, I went to your house and got my merchandise that you refused to send to me. There's a difference. And when you break into someone's house, you're wearing all black. And the one thing I don't want is money in my pocket.
Speaker B
All right? It ain't supposed to be in your pocket. It's supposed to be in my pocket.
Speaker C
I wanna. You wanna hear my speech?
Speaker B
No, I don't want to hear your speech. I would hear, so I would hear my money. Shakur said, you're not gonna see nothing on them cameras but teeth and chains.
Speaker C
There it is.
Speaker B
That's how I knew it was him. Tyler the Great 27, said it's hard to get Travis involved on offense. The game when you use him to guard the number one receiver, Worthy. And Kelsey on defense, well, that's a part of it. Bishop Barnett said do ball du ball. Then street said, bengals beat them Jags. They be five, zero. If they would. If they would have. If they would have beat the Bengals. They lost to Jake Browning and the Bengals defense, two and three. Who they y' all play? Jags.
Speaker C
Yeah, Week two, I think it was week y'.
Speaker B
All. Oh, y' all beat him. Yeah.
Speaker C
Yeah, I think it was we two or. Yeah.
Speaker B
Cameron Orwood Jr. Five interceptions through five weeks is unacceptable for a QB. Yeah, because if he throwing five, that means he gonna have 17 at the end of the season. And that's. That's really high. Wolf. The fact Bengals are better than the Chiefs by default because Browning beat Trevor Lawrence between It goes towards Ocho death. No Joy Lopez says. Can we talk about the terrible caused by the refs? I did fake Hollywood Brown on the. On. On a. On A shot up the sideline. I thought he got interfered with, but other than that, I thought the game was, you know, fairly called. Okay. I thought they called one that kept a drive alive. I thought the receiver from the Jags, Ocho, I thought he slipped. I didn't think it would put him down. But look, we can go back and dissect and look at calls. They're not gonna get every call, right? They're gonna miss some, they're gonna get some. But it was a great game. Congratulations to the Jag. They earned this victory tonight.
Speaker C
Yeah.
Speaker B
Little Ninja 24 said, what's up? And Ocho. Hey, Ocho. The sooner you come to terms with the Bengals being trash, the better you will feel about the season. Lol. Love y'. All.
Speaker C
Hold on, hold on. I feel good, regardless. I feel good. I don't know what for, because I understand. I understand why we're not playing well.
Speaker B
Because y' all terrible. So therefore, because y' all terrible.
Speaker C
I mean, we're terrible. Because I quoted.
Speaker B
You ain't say that by Baltimore yesterday. Baltimore. You didn't say that by then.
Speaker C
That's not my team.
Speaker B
Okay? My Broncos. My Broncos did. That thing, didn't ojo.
Speaker C
Okay. Oh, here we go. Okay.
Speaker B
Johnny Depp said Bingo should pick up Milton from the Cowboys or Mills from the Texas Texans for a new backup qb. I don't think Dallas is moving away on Milton. They like him. I can see them being the situation of Hail mary at the 60 at the 40 yard line, and they bring him in just to throw the Hail Mary because he have that kind of arm talent. Lany Ray say big controversy in the chat tonight. The correct ones are calling it a shopping cart or. Or a cart, not a horse and buggy from a little House on the Prayer. Yeah, it's a shopping cart. Well, I mean.
Speaker C
Shopping cart.
Speaker B
I don't know. Did I? Oh, well, my grandma called it a buggy. Probably don't put nothing in this buggy. Man, them old people, they. They. They ain't pronounced nothing right. But you knew exactly what they was talking about.
Speaker C
Exactly. Yep.
Speaker B
Fuzz Light Year 12 said. Ocho. Can y' all do me a favor? Invite Yankee players, coaches and trainers on. I need that nightcap effect at the. For this parlay. Boy, they need to do something, man. They giving up. I mean, they got beat, what, like 10, nothing? 10 1. And then they got beat 13 to 7 the other night.
Speaker C
God.
Speaker B
Yeah, that's what I said. Aaron Jones. Don't worry. We'll make McDaniels in Philly as OC, he's meant. He's not meant to be a head coach. Come up north, we got you. Yeah. Might be onto something. Tino Davis. Casey plays the Lions in kc. What chance you give Casey? A great chance. I mean, it's. It's from week to week, man. I mean, you. You never know. I mean, look out. Look how Detroit look week one against Green Bay. Look how they looked ever since Shakur said NFL want to expand and go global. Move bingos to London so we never got to watch them and play where they play when we sleep. Right through that True.
Speaker C
We got jokes.
Speaker A
Okay.
Speaker C
Okay.
Speaker B
Lamar Mill says, I noticed you all talk top tier running backs and never mentioned Alvin Camaro. What tier is he? Well, it just so happened that he on a bad team. So it's hard to get the recognition that you deserve when you're on a bad team.
Speaker C
Bad team. Even though we know we how good you are.
Speaker B
Yeah. Jamal the singer when I was 8, called my aunt fat. She backhand slapped me, cut me under my eye. I'll be 34 next year. I still got that scar. Yeah, people didn't play back then, man. Drew Brown said, yo, Uncle Nocho, can y' all build a dream offense? You both started. Yeah. Larry Allen at guard. I'm gonna take Jonathan Ogden at one tackle, Gary Zimmerman at another tackle. I'm gonna put. Who gonna be my other guard? I put Zach Martin at one guard.
Speaker C
Quentin Nelson that center.
Speaker B
You'll put Quentin Nelson at center? I will. Rest your soul. Mike Webster be my center quarterback. I'm gonna take seven. I'm a tight end. I'll do Jerry, Tio, Randy as my wide receivers. And I'm put Barry as my running back.
Speaker C
I like that.
Speaker B
Who you got? Who your who? Your team.
Speaker C
Shoot. I want the same team you just said, but my receivers is me. My running back is Walter.
Speaker B
Okay.
Speaker C
And they got T and Randy as my other two receivers.
Speaker B
Okay. All right. That concludes this episode of Nightcap. The Jacksonville Jaguars come back late. They score 21 unanswered, then get the go ahead touchdown with 30 seconds remaining as they clip the Kansas City Chiefs 31 to 28. Trevor Lawrence was 18 to 25 to 21, one touchdown, one reception, and a fumble. But he played well when he needed to play well. The defense of the Jags got a big time interception, returns at 99 yards. And they win the ball game on a Monday night and look very impressive in doing so.
