Hello CJ. Hello Jake. So I've heard you've been going to a few prides. I have last year was my first

pride ever. I went to the York Pride in 2018 and I was string the crowd and eventually I
spk_0
clicked up the courage to walk out to the crowd and join the possession and enjoyed the day with
spk_0
the York pride. So that was my first pride I've ever been to now. So this year I decided not only
spk_0
was I going to go to Pride but I was going to take a bit of an active role as well. Well okay
spk_0
when you say an active role what did you do? Well I've got my stall so I've set up my own
spk_0
little business doing selling greetings cards. Some call it equality cards but also I was helping
spk_0
with the York LGBT forum stall as well at two of the prides at York and Hariga. So yeah so getting
spk_0
a bit involved in the stalls itself. Yeah so you're greeting cards, equality cards, how can people
spk_0

Instagram or we've got our own website as well www.equalitycard.co.uk and people can find out from

there. I'm also at lots of events and various things so 10% of what I made goes to the local York

LGBT chart as well. So how many designs do you have? I've gotten out just today, I'm up to nearly
spk_0
90 different designs not including the Christmas ones that we did. So probably with all the Christmas
spk_0
ones over 100 designs. Wow that's a lot of greeting cards and a lot of designs. It's very rare
spk_0
you don't really see many LGBT greeting cards in card shops so it's got that. You're doing that.

So which prides did you actually go to? The first one I went to was at the beginning of June
spk_0
on the first June I went up to the Nothungland pride which is way up north in the
spk_0
North. Up in Anik which is a lovely beautiful place and I love the Nothungland pride.

Did you recommend to visit Anik? I would recommend to visit Anik. I'd also recommend to visit
spk_0
to Anik pride, Nothungland pride as well. It's a nice, kind of a quaint. It's got a challenge
spk_0
to it but it's got a lovely family atmosphere to it. It's probably I would estimate around about
spk_0
2,000 people went. It's on the rugby club field. It's on it being going a couple of years up there
spk_0
as well and it's a huge thing for them having the community, having the county pride there as well
spk_0
and a lot of work has gone into setting that up and I really enjoyed Anik pride as well and
spk_0
Nothungland pride at Anik as I should say and it was a good day as well. It's made a big difference
spk_0
whether it was good so that makes it big atmosphere. It's not been really summer. It's not and I
spk_0
think that unfortunately the following two parades that went to York in particular was a damp or
spk_0
and a really beautiful organisers without one and all the people involved with that and the
spk_0
storeholders. I know quite a few different storeholders lost a lot of the stock in the rain. It was
spk_0
damaged. It was ruined. I was fortunate enough with mine not to damage anything because they were
spk_0
in cell phone operas so I could just drive them off afterwards. That wasn't too bad but it did
spk_0
mean that it put a damp on the day for people but still a good possession. I wasn't able to join it
spk_0
but I saw it coming in and I know that you were in the possession. I was in the possession, yes.

In the parade I was one of the dinosaurs so this year to raise awareness of what
spk_0
the LGBT flag and what the colours mean we presented ourselves as dinosaurs and we paraded
spk_0
in the parade as dinosaurs and it was very good, very good experience, very tiring gets
spk_0
because York Pride has probably one of the longest parades in the country, not the longest.

Yeah, one for the mincer up until the race comes. Yeah, it's about three days, nearly three miles.

Yes, so it's a long way. It's a long way to walk in a dinosaur costume when it's raining
spk_0
because heavy as it was. This is the drawing side. I was dried inside. Everyone else was soaping
spk_0
cat-rate. They complained. Can I? Which was good? And yes, the weather did affect the
spk_0
pride of this year. But there's not much you can do about that and that's the risk you have to take.

It is and I think for those people who were there they still enjoyed it. It was a well-organised
spk_0
pride and there's a lot going on. There's loads of different things on that field,
spk_0
there at the race course, lots of information stalls, food stalls, activity stalls, sales,
spk_0
everything. So when I first came to York which was in 2009 and the following year was 2010,

was the first pride that I went through. Well, you're laughing now. I'm laughing the two,
spk_0
the following year was two then and I have to do that's in 2009. Well, oh my god. Yeah,
spk_0
well, you know, we do go on games. Well, yeah, whatever. Anyway, I was partly organised in
spk_0
New York. I was proud to have that year and there was about five winter people in attendance.

Five hundred? Yeah. And I think last year was ten thousand. Last year was ten thousand.

So the weather, huge increases. So it shows you how much things have changed in the short time
spk_0
and it's got that, not fumbling pride is happening in a rural area and an open-knower area.

That's the rule. And that will grow. Yeah, and it will. I'm talking about smaller, smaller
spk_0
price. So you went to any of the ones that were... We did. Went to my birthplace actually as
spk_0
it is. Because you went to Harrogate. But the Placios. Not quite yet. Not quite. But yeah, we went to
spk_0
Harrogate pride and there since it goes as pride in diversity, I think, next year. Yeah, they call it,
spk_0
so the goal, the encompass the whole different faith and the spectrum of diversity equality as well
spk_0
within the LGBT pride. And that was seen within the stalls that were there as well and I think
spk_0
the Harrogate was good because the weather was a lot better. But the style was good.

I was laughing there. So most people did enjoy and lots of people there just in the sunshine and

stuff and the mood and sat on the grass, listening to the music and their live entertainment.

But yeah, as you say, unfortunately the heavens did open and the downpour did come. But it's kind of

it's happened. Harrogate pride has been going for three years now and it's always rain. So it's
spk_0
kind of tradition now that it's rain. So everyone waits for it to rain. Harrogate.

Like I'm giving tea, it doesn't always rain in Harrogates. Well, just for pride days.

Just for pride days. So it must be due to a sunny one next year. So everybody get themselves to

Harrogates next year because it's going to shine. And they've already announced that date and

I can't remember a top of my head. So I'm going to have to double check and it is going to be the

19th of June 2020. That's Harrogate pride, 19th of June 2020. They've already come out
spk_0
the blocks. I think the first pride to confirm next year's pride already. So get that date booked.

I'm going to a few years. I'm going to hold this on the 20th of July. I am really excited because

I had my own Melanie in the scene. I'll see Melanie from Spice Girls and you're going to spice

a beer life. I'm going to spice up my life. I can imagine Hull's going to be quite busy.

It was UK pride about two years ago. Of course. And I got to see Mark Hull.

Which made me very happy indeed. Because I'm a very seen Mark Hull and Mark.

Right. So we were very annoyed by that. But over the now we had a really good time.

And Queen's Gardens. And I think also as well, hoping to get to Leeds Pride in the City Centre of

Leeds. Yeah. I like Leeds Pride. I call it an adult Pride. And what I mean by that is it tends to

be quite alcohol-hyde that you compare to the other Pride. So it's made more to family.

Yeah, more family orientated by Hull. It's still on the other place.

Yeah, even Hull is more family orientated than Leeds. So like I call it an adult Pride.

But I've only ever enjoyed Leeds Pride. I've never been in a store.

I've not been in a store. I think sometimes it's got to have a Pride to enjoy.

Yeah, it wasn't a big name there, but I don't think you always need a big name.

I think for me is people come to Pride because it is pride. They don't necessarily go because

there's a certain thing there. Because if you do get a big name, you could just end up getting

the fans of that person who's not necessarily the LGBT new or win particular this year, but we know
spk_0
we know every particular and then charging for the ticket price next door, and at rate, but
spk_0
let us not talk about that and why it really unders me considering it is 50 years of stonewall

relating back to our early or hard-cats. We did, so I think it should have been a year of
spk_0
reflection because rather than let's make lots of money or something. But anyway, that's just my
spk_0
opinion. But anyway, let's live in the positive know, but yeah, then we've had some good

pride. We have to find the way they were about some good time. What I've really liked,

because I've been involved with pride, the organizing pride for all, organizing LGBT stuff for
spk_0
over ten years now. I love to see all of the prize that I pop in all the smaller ones.
