You're listening to Comedy Central.
spk_0
Pfff!
spk_0
Oh.
spk_0
Oh, I was, uh...
spk_0
I was trying to think I'm anti-plastic surgery,
spk_0
but I think I'd like to have one of those home decorators come into my brain
spk_0
and say,
spk_0
What is it? 1985 in the air? Let's get rid of some of this stuff.
spk_0
spk_0
Fear of being suffocated to death by balloons. Are you using that?
spk_0
Because it's taking up a lot of space.
spk_0
Well, it's tough all over. My mom told me recently, she said,
spk_0
Honey, when you don't wear makeup, you look mentally ill.
spk_0
So now when I go home I'm certain to wear a thick green eyeshadow
spk_0
and a line of lipstick around my lips, huh?
spk_0
Baby, look pretty now, my lips!
spk_0
Yeah!
spk_0
Uh...
spk_0
It was good. When I was growing up I was a bit of a dark kid.
spk_0
I was reading it in the paper that a lot of kids in the United States are suffering from depression.
spk_0
Younger and younger, our children are seeing the sippy cup as half empty.
spk_0
And, uh...
spk_0
I was a bit of a dark kid. I occasionally stage my own death for fun.
spk_0
Mother, I've taken a whole bottle of pills.
spk_0
Oh my god, what did you take?
spk_0
Tums.
spk_0
Maria, those are your fathers.
spk_0
What mother, I can't hear you.
spk_0
The calcium is coursing through my veins.
spk_0
Hello everybody, that was Maria Bamford. You just heard from her second comedy center,
spk_0
and I was like, I'm going to be ending so fast.
spk_0
So I jammed in some stuff I wanted to get in for this last episode.
spk_0
And, uh... I'm happy to have you guys here with us.
spk_0
I'm of course joined as always by producer extraordinaire coach T. How are you coach?
spk_0
I'm doing well, man. What is going on over there?
spk_0
Man, I've just been...
spk_0
To be honest, bummed out this week about this show ending, but you know what?
spk_0
I'm also happy.
spk_0
I want to clear some things up real fast because we've gotten so many emails and messages about the show.
spk_0
And I'm really appreciative of everybody reaching out.
spk_0
It meant a lot to me this week. It got me through.
spk_0
And I'm in a better... I'm in a better spirits than I was at the beginning of this week.
spk_0
And I just want to say right off the top, because people are asking what they can do.
spk_0
There's nothing you can do. It's too late.
spk_0
And it's also the powers that...
spk_0
The people that we work with are big fans of the show and so good to us.
spk_0
And I just want to say I'm so grateful to have gotten to do this show.
spk_0
It meant a lot to me to be able to do this during this pandemic.
spk_0
A lot of people don't get... A lot of people lost work during this stuff.
spk_0
And I got to do truly my dream job.
spk_0
Something that when it came through the pipeline, I've never felt more prepared to do something and more meant to do something.
spk_0
I'd spent so many... So many hours as a kid, categorically listing comedy bits that I was obsessed with.
spk_0
And it was as if I was doing this job my whole life.
spk_0
And to get to do my dream job in the middle of a pandemic, I could not be more grateful for the people who fought for us to do this show.
spk_0
Jeremy, Ryan, Nicole, the people who are no longer with Comedy Central, Chloe and Anne.
spk_0
The people who got us here, I could not be more grateful to have been in this spot.
spk_0
And though it has to end, I will not lose my gratefulness for how lucky it is.
spk_0
It's impossibly lucky that we got to do this.
spk_0
So I'm really grateful and I'm also grateful for that coach T.
spk_0
I'm grateful that I got to work with you on this because you made it fucking great.
spk_0
And it was really... I don't like to listen to my own...
spk_0
I have other podcasts I don't like to listen to. You made it to where I enjoyed listening to this...
spk_0
The podcast that we do because you made it sound so cool. So I appreciate you, man.
spk_0
Likewise, man. Likewise, man.
spk_0
And we're not gonna get too sappy, but I second everything Tom said, man.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I don't... Actually, you know what? We are gonna get sappy. Get out of here, coach.
spk_0
You wanna get sappy?
spk_0
No, I'm kidding.
spk_0
I haven't read some emails. I haven't read some emails. I just don't like the declaration that we're not gonna get sappy.
spk_0
Maybe you're not gonna get sappy.
spk_0
These chuckleheads are gonna hear some sap.
spk_0
And that's right, we're bringing chuckleheads back for the last episode, baby.
spk_0
I didn't see a lot of support for chuckleheads out there.
spk_0
I'm gonna tell you right now, this week we got plenty of support for chuckleheads.
spk_0
I got a message from a guy who was like, what happened? I'm really mad.
spk_0
This chucklehead is not chuckling.
spk_0
Wow.
spk_0
I'm really mad.
spk_0
It's not chuckling.
spk_0
I gotta find who that was because it did make me laugh. I think that might have been a mad.
spk_0
I like that. This chucklehead is not chuckling.
spk_0
Yeah, this is mad, Tomson. I appreciate you, Matt.
spk_0
Way to go, Matt.
spk_0
And right up top, I wanna say people have been asking, like I said, what they can do to support.
spk_0
Like I said, there's nobody... I don't think you can email or anything.
spk_0
It's too late for that.
spk_0
But what you can do, what actually helps, at least me, and I think it could not hurt Coach either,
spk_0
is if you follow us on social media, that's where you'll see the next stuff we're working on.
spk_0
I'm at Tom A to Carr. It's THA KKAR.
spk_0
You're looking at it on your phone if you're listening to this.
spk_0
And yeah, Coach T is at Coach underscore TEA.
spk_0
And some people were asking about if we were gonna do like a spin-off pod guest or something like that.
spk_0
I don't know about all that. I will say that I do have another podcast already called Stand By Your Band,
spk_0
that I co-host with my buddy, Tommy McNamara, where we have comedians on to talk about music
spk_0
that they like, that people make fun of them for liking, like Creed or Coldplay, stuff like that.
spk_0
It's really fun. So check that out. We have a Patreon for that too.
spk_0
We do two hours a week. So get over there.
spk_0
And I wanna discuss this email that I got, because I thought it was funny,
spk_0
and I thought it would be a good way to get you some promotion here to Coach.
spk_0
David Kiyak or Kayak, every say that, he sent in Tom and Coach,
spk_0
an oddly perfect pair, urgent question.
spk_0
Hey, Tom and Coach, you two are hilariously awesome pair.
spk_0
I love the dynamic between you and enjoy your conversations as much as I enjoy the clips you play.
spk_0
I'm hoping you can answer this question before the pod expires.
spk_0
How did you and Coach come together? Sorry I'm an ass for assuming Tom is reading this.
spk_0
Coach, how did you and Tom come together?
spk_0
That was the show. That's not an ass. That's right.
spk_0
That's a fan.
spk_0
Yeah, you're right. That's a fan.
spk_0
Coach Kayak, not read.
spk_0
He says a dedicated chucklebot.
spk_0
I don't know if I appreciate you inserting new nicknames in here right at the end, Dave.
spk_0
Listen, Dave can cope how he needs the copet, Tom.
spk_0
That's fair. You know what? Come over to your own nicknames.
spk_0
This little thing that pissed people off so much for some reason,
spk_0
throwing a nickname out there.
spk_0
But I wanted to, so what's funny is, so I've gotten a lot of emails about us, Coach.
spk_0
That's good.
spk_0
About me and you.
spk_0
And I love you, Coach. I'm very grateful that we got paired together on this.
spk_0
But Coach and I did not know each other before we started this show.
spk_0
It was the thing where Coach was, yeah, picked as a producer of this because of the cool less work you've done before.
spk_0
Do you want to give people a little peek by the curtain coach?
spk_0
I mean, I could give them a peek.
spk_0
I'm a comedy DJ and I'm a producer and I'm a podcast producer.
spk_0
And I take those things very serious. I'm very innovative with them.
spk_0
But as far as how me and Tom came together, I think it was really some very intelligent people within the network,
spk_0
being like, Tom is a nut for comedy.
spk_0
But Coach is one of, you know, our better, solid, more reliable producers.
spk_0
And you got to realize, like, Tom and me kind of came off the bench for this podcast.
spk_0
So it was like, you know, this podcast was like, hey, man, we need to kind of score some points.
spk_0
So I think people just who work, who knew us both mutually, were like, hey,
spk_0
I think these two might kind of go good together.
spk_0
And I think we exceeded everyone's expectations.
spk_0
So that's a good thing. I do music and I do behind the scenes.
spk_0
I don't really mess with a lot of people. I'm just kind of quiet.
spk_0
I do my thing. I do comedy albums. I did Sam Jay. I did Jamar Neighbors.
spk_0
I did Chris Rock. I DJed on TV for the Rose Battle.
spk_0
I DJed on TV for, what is that? The dance competition show on E.
spk_0
I was, it's not the funny dance show.
spk_0
No, the funny dance show.
spk_0
No funny dance show.
spk_0
Yeah, that's right. And I've done a whole bunch of things.
spk_0
But as this pandemic is coming, I think things are going to have to change if you're going to want to be relevant around here.
spk_0
So as far as the future, I got some shit cooking, but I can't even talk about it because it's like, what the hell is going on with our country?
spk_0
And how the hell are people going to eat?
spk_0
But as far as how me and Tom came together, there's just two very professional people in the industry
spk_0
that were paired together because they thought it was going to be a good hit.
spk_0
So kudos to those people. And they were very polite about it.
spk_0
Didn't, you know, they're like, you ever get like two people you want to be friends? It was like, hey, Tom, there's Tyrell.
spk_0
It was very gentle. They were like, look, you guys can do whatever you want.
spk_0
Bottice breakfast.
spk_0
Yeah, that's right. They got us breakfast. It was great.
spk_0
And immediately I was like, this is a good-ass guy. And I could tell you knew your shit.
spk_0
And the way that I'm a nerd about comedy, you're a nerd about being a professional about production and you kill it.
spk_0
So it's like, I think it's just two people who are very passionate about the work they do.
spk_0
But also it's just, yeah, some dynamics work and some don't.
spk_0
And we're lucky that we're both very open-minded people who can laugh about whatever.
spk_0
Yeah, it was great.
spk_0
But yeah, I think that's, yeah, that's basically it. But also, yeah, you had some comedy background stuff too.
spk_0
I've been at the comedy store up until the pandemic. I've been at the comedy store one to two nights every week for five solid years.
spk_0
And I've seen everything. I've been everywhere. But I'm always behind the scenes.
spk_0
I've seen Dave Chappelle show up in doing hour. I've seen open-mikers go and go and go and go.
spk_0
And so I'm like, I'm really a comedy rat, but I'm just in the back doing something else.
spk_0
But I'm very keen to my surroundings. So that's why it sounded like I knew what I was talking about a little bit.
spk_0
No, but you do. But also you made this point early on in the show.
spk_0
And I think you were so right, which is that it's great to have you question it.
spk_0
Like if I say something to in the weeds, you know, to inside baseball, you get to come from a perspective that's different.
spk_0
If it's if it was just me and another comedy nerd, like somebody like me and like Sam Marill on the show or something like that,
spk_0
it would be us getting way too inside. And a lot of people would be like, who give, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
spk_0
And I don't really give a shit. Whereas you can ask those questions that keep things relevant.
spk_0
I could I could lose myself nerding out about the stuff and getting too deep into comedy writing sort of stuff.
spk_0
Yeah. And I think that you you keep me grounded on that. And you you're the voice of the people and you do a great job at it coach.
spk_0
I appreciate it. When you said Sam Marill and you said you're going to lose yourself. I thought you're going to make inside of his eyebrows.
spk_0
What are you running back?
spk_0
Damn. By the way, Sam Marill, just put out I think I said it last week.
spk_0
So we put out another special. He's so good. The man is crazy.
spk_0
So good. Nobody's more prolific. It's insane how it's crazy. So check that out. It's on his YouTube page.
spk_0
Sam and I want to read.
spk_0
I want to read I think one more email here before we get into the clips for today because we got a bunch.
spk_0
And I want to say we're getting them from people all over the world, which I really find interesting.
spk_0
We're getting shit from like Australia and sweet. A lot of shit from Sweden.
spk_0
Yeah. Why don't you sweet and fuck with us so heavy? I don't there's a lot of it from Sweden. There's this Heather Hillers wrote us from Germany.
spk_0
And said that Heather Hitler.
spk_0
Heather Heimler says.
spk_0
She said that some days this was the only show that she'd listen to because it was a little less corona based and stuff like that.
spk_0
Yeah. And I appreciate that there was one I really wanted to read here because it was it was really.
spk_0
Oh, here it is. This is a Haley Ray Greg. This is a little bit of a long one, but I really liked it because it's.
spk_0
It's wild. The dedication people had to the show. So she writes. I think this is she. Sorry if it's I assumed Haley Ray is a woman's name, but I could be wrong.
spk_0
So big thanks. Hello. I just wanted to thank you guys for all the laughs this past season coached an amazing job producing all the transitions kept everything moving so smoothly and it really makes all the difference in a podcast.
spk_0
I hear his I'm doing well every time somebody asked me how I'm doing.
spk_0
The kick off to your podcast was also the kick off to my construction season here in Alaska and mid June they moved me up to the AK Canada border where we had absolutely no sell service.
spk_0
I was there two months I had to drive 113 miles one way after work to get sell service to download the podcast. Let's go.
spk_0
Let's go. It became my weekly routine and I owe you to everything because that is what held my sanity together.
spk_0
There's nothing on planet earth that pissed me off more when I heard people were writing and pissing and moaning about the download size.
spk_0
Little fans. Yes. Is shush. Anyway, I had no idea you had only two more episodes and it breaks my heart. I've found so many great comedians because of your record.
spk_0
I'm going to be a little bit more relaxed and I wreck I guess that will keep me pushing through the rest of this long cold season here update.
spk_0
I'm now closer to civilization so I will be able to stream the last episode while working and she also said thanks so much again.
spk_0
I'll figure out how to send a video message. I'll send you a video of the sea otters.
spk_0
Oh, the sea otters. We got sea otters listening to us. I'm excited.
spk_0
No complaints from them so far. I think they like it.
spk_0
I got thrown off when I heard a video was coming. Then I had to like focus on it.
spk_0
Don't you warning us.
spk_0
I'm trying to be sitting at the end of the video.
spk_0
Oh, video like wow.
spk_0
Jesus. Thank you so much for that email.
spk_0
That's absolutely phenomenal.
spk_0
What's driving over a hundred miles to get cell servers?
spk_0
Obviously, I'm sure the shower was a big part of that too, but I really appreciate it.
spk_0
We got a bunch more that unfortunately we don't have time to get to all of them.
spk_0
But I just want to make it clear they meant a lot to me.
spk_0
It meant a lot to me to read those things this week because just like for many of you this I was I was caught off guard.
spk_0
I should not have been but I was and I appreciate everything.
spk_0
We got some we got some hot clips today. Well, I should say one of them is hot.
spk_0
The other one.
spk_0
I got to be honest. I was not going to do this, but I what I probably should have done is done it the very first episode.
spk_0
And a lot of people requested throughout the run of the show that I play my own stuff.
spk_0
And I just didn't feel right doing that.
spk_0
But now that we're leaving, I don't want you guys to think that I'm not a standard comedian.
spk_0
I don't believe and you guys are like that guy loves comedy.
spk_0
You can also wear sucks or whatever.
spk_0
I also do stand up and I'm I am kind of excited to just get back to to focusing on writing.
spk_0
Although I I've been doing that anyway, but yeah, I decided to to give people a little bit of my stand up so that you can see what I'm all about.
spk_0
And also I decided to play one of my favorite comedians of all time that I haven't played during the duration of the show.
spk_0
Because I played him when I was a guest on the show a long time ago and I didn't want to repeat too much.
spk_0
But I would be doing myself and everybody listening to this show a disservice by not giving you a gym gaff again who also has a special out.
spk_0
I believe this week on I believe on Comedy Central and it's it's weird that it worked out that way.
spk_0
And maybe it's not because the man has so many damn specials that I could have just set my watch to there being one coming.
spk_0
But yeah, he has one that's coming out.
spk_0
I just watched a clip of it about he has this bit about runners high and I clicked on it because I was like I've been trying to I've had so many comics have bits about the runners high thing.
spk_0
And watching him I was like man, he's just one of the best like he did he took it in a different way than I would have ever expected.
spk_0
And he just writes the hell out of everything he does.
spk_0
That's why he has hours of material on different foods because he can milk a subject for all its worth and make it funny the whole time.
spk_0
So I'm just a huge huge fan and he's a fellow Indiana man.
spk_0
So two Indiana comics taken up the chunk of the middle of the show today here is Jim Gaffigan and me.
spk_0
She's good to be here in New York. I love this city.
spk_0
I have lived here 10 years. I am originally from Indiana and I know what most of you are thinking Indiana mafia.
spk_0
The fact of the matter is where I grew up there was something very similar to the mafia 4-H.
spk_0
It's a different kind of pride where I'm from.
spk_0
You know it's not like we're from New York with tough for we're from Texas we like things big.
spk_0
It's more like we're from Indiana and we're going to move.
spk_0
I love how New York is so multicultural. I wish I was ethnic I'm nothing.
spk_0
If you're a spanic and you get angry people are like he's got a Latin temper.
spk_0
But if you're a white guy and you get angry people are like that guy's a jerk.
spk_0
He's a turd.
spk_0
Actually the reason I look like this is because my father was from Sweden and my mother was Elton John.
spk_0
He was a very good mommy.
spk_0
The city has so many beautiful women. I don't know but I fell in love like every 10 minutes.
spk_0
I'm sitting on the subway and I'm like there's my wife.
spk_0
There's shit. Oh she's getting off.
spk_0
Alright there's the woman. Alright that's a man.
spk_0
It's confusing.
spk_0
Life is a little easier for attractive people.
spk_0
Think about it. If a stranger smiles at you on their attractive you think they're nice.
spk_0
But if the stranger's ugly like what do they want?
spk_0
Get away from me weirdo.
spk_0
Some couples here. Isn't it strange when you're single all you see are couples?
spk_0
And then when you're part of a couple all you see are hookers.
spk_0
That guy said that's wrong.
spk_0
That's wrong.
spk_0
I trust people with glasses don't you?
spk_0
That's good.
spk_0
If you're wearing glasses like this.
spk_0
Get away from me.
spk_0
Did you ever take directions from someone that looks like this?
spk_0
Where you got to go?
spk_0
Forty-fourth street. Why don't we take my spaceship?
spk_0
I have to pick up Santa Claus anyway.
spk_0
The only advantage of wearing glasses is you can do that dramatic removal.
spk_0
You ever see that? My God.
spk_0
Holy Mother of God.
spk_0
I can't see a thing.
spk_0
I am absolutely blind with that.
spk_0
It's probably why I wear a pen.
spk_0
You ever notice when people are thinking and movies or is chewing on the end of their glasses?
spk_0
If we give the alien a cord, you know what they're really thinking?
spk_0
It tastes like wax.
spk_0
I like living here in New York but it definitely changes.
spk_0
You don't make people impatient. Have you ever had somebody not asked for directions but demand them?
spk_0
You're just walking down the street here or a horn.
spk_0
Some guys are like, holletana.
spk_0
You know, like you were supposed to fax this guy directions?
spk_0
Suddenly you're wasting his time.
spk_0
The skull body, holletana.
spk_0
New York has made me so paranoid too.
spk_0
Whenever I visit another city, I always act like I'm from there.
spk_0
So the cab driver doesn't rip me off.
spk_0
It's good to be back home.
spk_0
Back here where I grew up.
spk_0
Here on Tokyo.
spk_0
Everything looks familiar because I grew up here.
spk_0
Where do I need to go?
spk_0
I need to go to my old stomping grounds.
spk_0
That would be the holiday in.
spk_0
And the address appears to be the pound sign.
spk_0
So step on it.
spk_0
Whenever I'm out of town for at least a week, I feel like I should write a postcard or something.
spk_0
But you could be a genius. You try and write a postcard.
spk_0
You're coming across like a moron anyway.
spk_0
Yeah, shit, he's got big buildings. I like food, bye.
spk_0
You ever get a postcard? You're so excited. You don't even read it.
spk_0
Hey, guy, who cares?
spk_0
That's why when I send a postcard, I quiz people.
spk_0
Hey, did you get that post? Yeah, yeah, yeah. What would I say?
spk_0
You were having a cousin jail.
spk_0
Why do you even have to be out of town to write a postcard?
spk_0
I want to write a postcard to my neighbor.
spk_0
I feel like I still live near you.
spk_0
Guys sees me going my apartment flips the card over just to picture me holding a rifle.
spk_0
Scally.
spk_0
I'm too lazy to do all those things.
spk_0
You ever find yourself being lazy for no reason at all?
spk_0
Like you pick up your mail, you go in your house, you realize you have a letter for a neighbor.
spk_0
You ever just look at the letter and go, hmm, looks like they're never getting this.
spk_0
I paint too much energy to go back outside.
spk_0
I'm not like stick it on a bureau.
spk_0
I'm going to get that to them later on.
spk_0
Right now, I've got to watch some love connection.
spk_0
I've got some new hosts on there.
spk_0
You ever have one thing to do all day but you just can't get yourself to do it?
spk_0
I got to go to the post office.
spk_0
But I'd probably have to put on pants.
spk_0
I don't only open till five.
spk_0
I have to do that next week.
spk_0
I have a little more free time.
spk_0
I never have free time.
spk_0
Whenever I go to the cash machine, there's two people in line and in front of you get kind of flustered.
spk_0
You're like, forget it.
spk_0
I'm not standing here for 40 seconds.
spk_0
I got things to do.
spk_0
Sometimes being lazy can get you in trouble.
spk_0
You ever not take a shower all weekend?
spk_0
Just lounge around and then you're running late for work on Monday?
spk_0
Oh no.
spk_0
It's always one person at work.
spk_0
Except when I was like, smoking here.
spk_0
I went to a barbecue on Friday night.
spk_0
Only had 48 hours to take a shower.
spk_0
It's crazy.
spk_0
You ever look for the remote control?
spk_0
You can't find it.
spk_0
You just say, ah, looks like I'm not watching TV.
spk_0
I'm not going to take two steps and turn it on myself.
spk_0
I'll go to the gym if I'm going to work out.
spk_0
Look at that.
spk_0
You ever have the TV on and you can't find the remote?
spk_0
Got to watch that one channel.
spk_0
Feel like you're in prison.
spk_0
I got to watch this.
spk_0
Feel like I'm reading this work.
spk_0
I watch a lot on the TV.
spk_0
I drink a lot of coffee too.
spk_0
But you know, it's really addictive.
spk_0
Harrow it.
spk_0
I'm glad you buy the horn.
spk_0
What horn?
spk_0
My favorite channel is the Lifetime Channel.
spk_0
Because Lifetime is television for women.
spk_0
Lifetime television for women.
spk_0
Yet for some reason there's always a woman getting beaten on that network.
spk_0
And a Lifetime Original Meredith Baxter Bernie gets beaten with a rod.
spk_0
And a Lifetime Original Rod.
spk_0
I was having a rough week in New York.
spk_0
People are mean to me.
spk_0
I live in Brooklyn.
spk_0
I just get heckled on the street all day.
spk_0
I was walking on the street the other day and a guy called me a big bang theory looking mother fucker.
spk_0
So it's good to be away from there.
spk_0
He didn't even name a guy from the show.
spk_0
Isn't that messed up?
spk_0
He was like, you're the whole thing.
spk_0
Can I have a picture?
spk_0
We took a picture.
spk_0
Isn't that crazy?
spk_0
Isn't that crazy?
spk_0
I get shit all day on the street in Brooklyn.
spk_0
Partially because I'm ethnically ambiguous and people are always trying to figure out where I'm coming from.
spk_0
I was sitting in the park the other day trying to meditate.
spk_0
Yeah, meditators.
spk_0
I call it liberal prayer.
spk_0
And this guy saw me and he goes, go back to Guatemala.
spk_0
He said Guatemala.
spk_0
That is so specific, man.
spk_0
That's like a racist hail Mary to throw.
spk_0
He's like, that land, that dude's going back to Guatemala tonight.
spk_0
It's over for that dude.
spk_0
I'm going to win my pool.
spk_0
I'm not from the beautiful land of Guatemala.
spk_0
I'm half Indian in case you're trying to guess.
spk_0
Yeah, a little half Indian boy.
spk_0
Hell yeah, we're a thing to wew at.
spk_0
I am half Indian.
spk_0
Sometimes I tell people that they'll say this fun thing where they're like, oh half Indian.
spk_0
Feather or dot?
spk_0
Yeah, you ever heard that before?
spk_0
Some of you have said it.
spk_0
I can feel it.
spk_0
I know where we are.
spk_0
Feather or dot.
spk_0
What a fun, flirty way to marginalize two cultures.
spk_0
With two words.
spk_0
What racist efficiency, right?
spk_0
Like I want to be racist but quick.
spk_0
I got shit today.
spk_0
I ain't got a goddamn baby putting your little ass down.
spk_0
All right?
spk_0
Pop quiz hot shot.
spk_0
Feather or not.
spk_0
Keep it moving.
spk_0
Like, oh, okay.
spk_0
I'm on your time, I guess.
spk_0
Feather or dot.
spk_0
I'm going to start doing that to white people.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Next time I meet a white person, I'll be like, oh, white, huh?
spk_0
Potato or Nazi?
spk_0
That's gonna do it.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Cool.
spk_0
They enjoy it.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I am a dot by the way.
spk_0
I know it's bothering some of you.
spk_0
That's fine.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
I know the shirt had you fooled.
spk_0
This shirt says feather all over it, baby.
spk_0
Dot is fine.
spk_0
As far as slurs go, nobody cares about dot.
spk_0
Dot's not even really a slur.
spk_0
You have to say something angrily for it to be a slur, right?
spk_0
spk_0
And nobody's ever said dot angrily.
spk_0
Nobody's ever like, hide your curry.
spk_0
Some fucking dots just walked in.
spk_0
Looks like a goddamn game of Pac-Man in here.
spk_0
All these dots floating around.
spk_0
Is that an ellipses that just walked in my bar?
spk_0
Three dots in a row, huh?
spk_0
You got some nerve.
spk_0
Yeah, I'll do ellipses humor.
spk_0
I'm not afraid.
spk_0
Um, breathe.
spk_0
You might notice I don't have like an Indian angrily.
spk_0
I don't have an accent at all because my Indian father left
spk_0
before I ever heard his voice.
spk_0
So, this is what I sound like.
spk_0
It's a butter.
spk_0
So, I can't do like a fun racist impression of him
spk_0
that I'm sure we'd all enjoy.
spk_0
I mean, I'll try one.
spk_0
I don't want to bump you guys out.
spk_0
My dad would be like, I do not want to be a father.
spk_0
Is that good?
spk_0
I know these sounds like.
spk_0
Thank you.
spk_0
Come again.
spk_0
Not to my house.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I've had four different Indian people come to me after shows
spk_0
and be like, hey man, your dad probably left
spk_0
because there's a lot of pressure in Indian culture
spk_0
to not have mixed race children.
spk_0
It's like a weird thing from the older generations,
spk_0
but he was probably just like ashamed or something.
spk_0
And I'm just like, oh, cool.
spk_0
Thanks.
spk_0
Thanks for the good news.
spk_0
I feel much better.
spk_0
A lot of healing done tonight.
spk_0
My dad actually died a few years ago
spk_0
because my vision board worked.
spk_0
And...
spk_0
He was dead to me already,
spk_0
but I was playing with a Ouija board recently.
spk_0
Yeah, I was getting all spooky and cookey with a Ouija board.
spk_0
And my friend was like, let's get a little spooky here.
spk_0
A little cookey here.
spk_0
So we tried to contact my father with the Ouija board.
spk_0
Yeah, and nothing happened.
spk_0
And my friend was like, oh, it's not working.
spk_0
And I was like, no, this is so my dad.
spk_0
I think you're supposed to learn a lot of this sexual stuff
spk_0
from porn, you know, but I don't like porn.
spk_0
So I watch it like every day, but I don't enjoy it, you know.
spk_0
I ruined porn for myself because I caught my reflection
spk_0
in the computer screen one time.
spk_0
Never do that, guys.
spk_0
Just don't do it.
spk_0
It'll ruin sex forever.
spk_0
Just to see your dumb porn face is like...
spk_0
LAUGHTER
spk_0
Like I'm all teeth and I'm not smiling or anything.
spk_0
Like, who hurt me, you know?
spk_0
I look like I don't know what sex even is.
spk_0
I'm just like...
spk_0
What the fuck is this?
spk_0
The hell are they doing?
spk_0
Is he hurting her?
spk_0
It sounds like he's hurting her.
spk_0
You get the fuck out of there!
spk_0
Get the fuck out of there!
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
I think the main thing I don't like about porn
spk_0
is how much it screws with your brain about what sex is actually like.
spk_0
You know, if you watch it constantly,
spk_0
it really messes with guys' brains.
spk_0
And I know that because my best friend in college
spk_0
watched porn constantly.
spk_0
And his number one concern about losing his virginity
spk_0
is that he wasn't going to come...
spk_0
Enough!
spk_0
Enough!
spk_0
Isn't that crazy?
spk_0
Because no woman has ever wanted that, right?
spk_0
Like, that's never happened where a guy finished
spk_0
and then the lady's like,
spk_0
that's all become like...
spk_0
Where's the come?
spk_0
You call that come?
spk_0
I thought you loved me.
spk_0
I wanted to force it that all to come.
spk_0
I'm taking the children to my mother's house
spk_0
and that is all come!
spk_0
If that's you coming,
spk_0
then here's me going, buster.
spk_0
That's your home.
spk_0
Where is the come?
spk_0
I like to say like that because it sounds like
spk_0
dirty, Jerry Seinfeld.
spk_0
And that's my favorite thing to do.
spk_0
It's just like, where is the come?
spk_0
I do that in my house all day.
spk_0
Just like doing the pink, one in the stink.
spk_0
Why so little in the stink?
spk_0
I say we put it all over the stink.
spk_0
Stink is the new pink.
spk_0
Why?
spk_0
Did they call it eating pussy?
spk_0
I'm never gotten full.
spk_0
I got banned from Twitter this past year.
spk_0
That's true.
spk_0
Because I got super into this show called My Cat from Hell.
spk_0
I don't know if you guys have seen it.
spk_0
It's the best show.
spk_0
It's on Animal Planet.
spk_0
It's like the dog whisperer but for cats.
spk_0
And it's hosted by a man named Jackson Galaxy.
spk_0
What more could you need?
spk_0
It's amazing.
spk_0
I was watching the show and I was like,
spk_0
man, I bet they have the best Twitter account of all time.
spk_0
And I looked it up and they didn't have a Twitter account.
spk_0
But now they do.
spk_0
Because I made one.
spk_0
I made a Twitter account from My Cat from Hell.
spk_0
And I changed the spelling a little bit.
spk_0
I made it like My Cat is from Hell or whatever.
spk_0
But I still got like 10,000 followers over the course of one year.
spk_0
Because for the entire year, I played it cool.
spk_0
Like all I would tweet was like,
spk_0
check out the show.
spk_0
It was Sunday.
spk_0
Is it nine?
spk_0
What was your favorite moment from tonight's episode?
spk_0
Like I put only post in shit like that for a year.
spk_0
Like a psycho.
spk_0
And it was so believable.
spk_0
I got all these people fully bought in.
spk_0
And then a year in, I got drunk.
spk_0
And I was like, let's burn this thing down.
spk_0
And my first move was I tweeted out,
spk_0
send in a picture of your cat.
spk_0
And I'll give it a rating from one to 10.
spk_0
And I got hundreds of cat pictures.
spk_0
And I gave them all threes.
spk_0
And people were so mad.
spk_0
They were way madder than I thought they would be.
spk_0
They were like, fuck you.
spk_0
I'm never watching this goddamn show again.
spk_0
And I just tweeted back, I'm sorry, your cat's a buttertail.
spk_0
I don't know what you want for me.
spk_0
I'm not going to bang your little kitty cat, your perv.
spk_0
But I just spelled perv.
spk_0
P-U-R-R-V.
spk_0
Stay on, Brad.
spk_0
But I ended up getting banned from Twitter with this account
spk_0
because people were begging me for cat advice every day.
spk_0
And I've never owned a cat.
spk_0
I don't know anything about cats.
spk_0
But I decided to start giving them advice.
spk_0
And a lot of it was like, you have to make your cats fight each other.
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
Or somebody would be like, hey, my cat is scratching our faces every day.
spk_0
And I'd be like, you just have to change your cat's name.
spk_0
You know?
spk_0
With the thing that really pissed people off is this guy tweeted at me,
spk_0
hey, my cat keeps peeing and pooping next to the litter box,
spk_0
but not inside of it.
spk_0
And I don't know what to do.
spk_0
And I was like, look, cats are very perceptive creatures.
spk_0
Sometimes they need to see you go in the litter box before they know what to do.
spk_0
And right before I got banned, I just saw one tweet from that dude
spk_0
that was like, this is not working!
spk_0
And now I am banned from Twitter.
spk_0
Alright, that was Jim Gaffigan from his Comedy Central Presents, season three.
spk_0
That's way back in the day.
spk_0
Way back in the day.
spk_0
He had a nice little head of hair.
spk_0
He looks like a different guy in the special.
spk_0
And it's one of my favorite specials of all time.
spk_0
And I'm not exaggerating.
spk_0
I think Jim Gaffigan's Comedy Central Presents is a top five half hour of all time.
spk_0
It is pound for pound.
spk_0
Maybe the best one.
spk_0
It's crazy.
spk_0
I've watched it so many times.
spk_0
I used to watch this special.
spk_0
I would walk around.
spk_0
I ripped it.
spk_0
Sorry Comedy Central.
spk_0
I illegally ripped it off the internet when I was in high school.
spk_0
I think I'll feel like Napster or some shit.
spk_0
And I would just listen to it as I would walk the hallways.
spk_0
I would laugh my ass off.
spk_0
I loved it so much.
spk_0
I don't know if I fit this in here, but he has this bit about postcards that just kills me about he wants to say whatever somebody.
spk_0
It's probably in the clip, so you just heard it.
spk_0
But the idea of sending your neighbor a postcard and then flipping it over and it's just you holding a shotgun.
spk_0
One of the hardest times I ever left out loud.
spk_0
I just think it's so joke packed.
spk_0
There's no filler.
spk_0
It's wall to wall funny.
spk_0
Enough with Jim.
spk_0
I'm in a time for that guy.
spk_0
Bros of last episode.
spk_0
Jim's doing okay.
spk_0
What about that second pick?
spk_0
So I decided to play some of my stuff from Comedy Central.
spk_0
And I went with my half hour because unfortunately this is what breaks my heart about the show ending coach is.
spk_0
What's up?
spk_0
These fucking half hours are hard to find.
spk_0
People, it's hard for people to see them.
spk_0
People that asked me when it came out, they were like, how do I watch it?
spk_0
I was like, you gotta go to cc.com and then you gotta click through half hour and you gotta do all this shit.
spk_0
It's tough.
spk_0
It's tough.
spk_0
So I hope that these don't get buried.
spk_0
I loved doing this show because I liked being able to uncover some of this stuff.
spk_0
And Comedy Central does a great, the media team at Comedy Central does a great job of clipping things up and putting them on their social media.
spk_0
And that does a lot of the heavy lifting for this.
spk_0
But I was thinking about it.
spk_0
I was watching, I don't usually like watching my own stuff.
spk_0
But I'm very proud of this half hour and it's...
spk_0
Don't give me an aww.
spk_0
Oh, you like your little half hour?
spk_0
Oh, that's so cute.
spk_0
The thing you put your life's work into.
spk_0
Oh.
spk_0
No, I like, I will tell you I've said it before, but Comedy Central half hours are what got me into comedy.
spk_0
That's what made me love it is they used to play the shit out of them.
spk_0
They used to play, they would play them all day long.
spk_0
I believe it was Fridays, they would do that.
spk_0
And then when they were off time in the schedule, they just throw on half hours and I would watch half hours all the time.
spk_0
I loved it.
spk_0
I loved it.
spk_0
I loved the standup block and they don't do that anymore.
spk_0
And it sucks because as a standup fan, I wish that there was a place to see this shit because that's how people made it back then.
spk_0
I watched Jim Gaffigan, I watched Nick Swartz, I watched Maria Bamford, I watched that Galvan Aguist, I watched Tony Woods a million times because they would just replay them.
spk_0
And I loved it.
spk_0
As a comedy fan, I loved it.
spk_0
And a lot of people, that's how those names got big is you go, oh, I've seen this guy a million times now.
spk_0
I'm going to, I'm going to go see them at a club and then that just doesn't happen anymore.
spk_0
It's tough.
spk_0
But I wanted to play stuff from this half hour because I feel like there's some stuff from it that both people haven't heard.
spk_0
They haven't heard me do.
spk_0
And even if you follow Comedy Central's social media, these haven't been, some of this stuff hasn't been clipped.
spk_0
The first part I put on it because it, it's the hardest chunk of material I've ever written because it's about my father dying and not being present and all this stuff.
spk_0
And being half Indian and having an Indian dad who just bails on you.
spk_0
And making that funny was really hard.
spk_0
It bombed for a long time because I couldn't, people get bummed out in comedy audiences when you say something sad about yourself, even if you're not sad about it.
spk_0
Like if you say like, oh, my dad left and you don't have a strong enough punchline, people just go, oh, I would you tell me that.
spk_0
I'm trying to have a good time.
spk_0
And it's a fine line to get your jokes to a point where people are like, oh, this guy is fine with this and that joke is funny enough.
spk_0
How long did it take you to make that work?
spk_0
It took me years.
spk_0
I would say that that chunk of material to get it where it was from beginning to on that special was probably like four years.
spk_0
And not that I was working on it consistently that whole time, but to get it really perfected.
spk_0
And to where, people don't realize it's not like, oh, I couldn't write those jokes.
spk_0
I had too much material in finding out what to cut from that chunk was what the problem was.
spk_0
And I was, yeah, it was hard.
spk_0
How long did it take for you to get to a place where you can make jokes about that based on the experiences that you had?
spk_0
That's an interesting question because so I grew up without a dad and a lot of people, I'm a good buddy, my buddy Charlie Beary was telling me that he watched the special with his dad with his dad and his parents.
spk_0
And at the end of it, all his dad said it was like, very funny.
spk_0
Did that boy really grow up without a father?
spk_0
Charlie was like, yeah, and he goes, very sad.
spk_0
And it's like, because I grew up without a father, I didn't have a father to miss or whatever.
spk_0
So I was kind of fine with that stuff from, I never minded joking about that stuff.
spk_0
And my mom would joke about it with me too.
spk_0
So there were moments that it was tough, you know, and in retrospect it sucks.
spk_0
But it's like, for me, I was ready to joke about it pretty quickly.
spk_0
The stuff that I wrote about my stepdad that's in another one of my Comedy Central, like it's on their YouTube thing, that was hard because that was actually trauma where it's like a man who told me he was going to kill me in my whole family.
spk_0
It's like shit like that where I had a tougher time writing that and making it funny and not just angry and mean.
spk_0
Whereas the stuff about my father, I was kind of pissed off about it for a little while.
spk_0
But I thought I immediately was like, I want to make it funny.
spk_0
And that's how I wrote for a long time because things that seemed like punches in the gut to me, I was like, I know that that can be funny.
spk_0
I know that that can be really funny.
spk_0
My engagement ending, shit like that.
spk_0
I was like, that is where I find things very funny.
spk_0
When bad things happen to me, I need them to be funny.
spk_0
That's the only way I could get through it.
spk_0
So it's almost like your process to take these events and somehow develop material out of them.
spk_0
Yeah, like in your process, like your healing process.
spk_0
Sort of, yeah.
spk_0
And I think that there's also, I kind of hate that old thing of like every comic is damaged and that comics all process their trauma through comedy or whatever.
spk_0
But there is some truth to it.
spk_0
And I think that also people should go to therapy or whatever, but I think that some people are just angry and it's not a pleasant thing.
spk_0
And I used to deal with some of that.
spk_0
And I think being able to twist something that feels like a cosmic thing against you into comedy feels like you're winning it.
spk_0
You're beating it, you know.
spk_0
That's a well put, man.
spk_0
Thank you for sharing, Tom.
spk_0
What's that?
spk_0
So thank you for sharing, Tom.
spk_0
Hey, thanks for asking coach.
spk_0
No, it's important that the listeners understand how you develop this shit.
spk_0
Well, the thing that is funny is I've always said my favorite types of comedy are dark and silly.
spk_0
And I think that those come through in this like nine or ten minutes because I think that my jokes about my father are mostly silly.
spk_0
I can't believe like doing the impression of my father on that thing is one of my the highlights of my career.
spk_0
And also doing a dumb ass thing like the dirty Jerry Seinfeld impression or the I want to point out also the my cap from Hell story is 100% true.
spk_0
A lot of people ask me if I actually did that and I did do it.
spk_0
And it was before everybody was doing what they're doing now where they at the blue check mark people switch their Twitter names to.
spk_0
To like famous people it was before that and I don't have a blue check mark so it was truly me being doing something that's insane and possibly illegal.
spk_0
I'm not sure.
spk_0
The booker for.
spk_0
I think it was yeah, I actually don't want to say because he might be upset if I mentioned this but one of the late night TV bookers was like I don't think you can do that on TV because you might get sued for fraud.
spk_0
I was like I don't think it's that serious but it's a come to me exactly but if I hope you guys liked that that chunk of material and if you did and yeah follow me at Tom Ticart THA KKAR Tom A Ticart depends on which thing you're following on.
spk_0
And yeah, I have more stuff coming. I'm still working on material.
spk_0
No, no more no more emails you want to touch on.
spk_0
I mean we can we have it's it's it's hard to decipher which emails to read because so many of them are saying the same things and to be honest they just kind of make me a little bit sad at times to read but we got I'll read a couple just to give a shout out to some listeners because I do appreciate you guys.
spk_0
Joshua Toboga says hi time and coach as I'm sure you have received message after message and I'll be joining a large audience I wanted to take time to express my sadness and hearing the shows coming to an end after listen to one podcast after another I feel I know so much about both of you listening to a podcast creates an interesting one way street.
spk_0
I hope you to find a way to work together again because you make a real great duo I'll keep an eye out for new projects of yours keep it real and be easy.
spk_0
Thank you Joshua. I said good idea I never thought I'd doing some some extra time and coach work.
spk_0
Yeah, I think we should I think we'll figure something out. I mean I definitely think the next time I have a podcast idea if there's fun if I have money to spend I'll get your ass paid.
spk_0
I just remember I did have one one other thing which is a somebody asked for advice so I'll do that so and if we run at a time we can always cut it but I thought that it was a good question so Samantha Montgomery sent us in an email asking for some advice.
spk_0
She says hi first off I'm a huge fan of the show and you can coach tea there's so many podcast nowadays yours hands down the best one well not anymore Samantha it's over.
spk_0
Hands down the best one.
spk_0
We get a lot of those I wanted to say somebody else wrote they they send me I think I took a picture of it because I was shocked by this but yeah here it is it's Nicole from Sweden again wrote said to say the
spk_0
podcast is ending you to so funny and you keep me company at work and she posted that she listened to the episode she listened to 11 straight episodes one day
spk_0
and one day she listened to 11 episodes of the show that's a full day let's go talking about it lights me up because I spend way more time making sure that things
spk_0
are worth they need to be on this podcast than most people ever would so I appreciate it it's motivation anytime I get a chance to cut out of you and and make it sound away it needs to sound this feels great.
spk_0
Oh absolutely you know it's it's the serialized compression you know we use two compressors to make sure that we get the high dynamics and I'll get into it later but we make sure that everything is hot over here.
spk_0
I love that I don't know what the hell that means but I should learn because I also it's so funny man because I produce the other podcast I do and it sounds like dog shit.
spk_0
And I feel like a dumbass but it's like yeah people put up with it I guess but this is so much better and I fully appreciate that you put so much time and effort into it because it does sound it sounds great.
spk_0
That's awesome. Alright so back to Samantha here she she says I was hoping I could get some advice from you since you are just the best and encourage your listeners to email you for advice I'm immensely passionate about comedy is I'm sure most of your listeners are but I'm also pretty funny which I'm which I'm sure most of your listeners are not.
spk_0
Oh, I've been keeping an ongoing note my phone full of joke ideas and inspiration that is miles long every time I sit down to write everything falls flat I know I could be a great comic if I can develop my writing skills a bit more do you have any suggestions keep it up so I think my comedy we will not be keeping it up sorry Samantha yeah but I do have advice for you and this is something I think about a lot I may have touched about touch on it a little bit last week.
spk_0
But I do have some writing advice because I struggle with this a lot too I do the same thing I have a bunch of notes on my phone and sometimes I'll sit down to write and it's just not feeling right like it's not feeling like what I want to come out is coming out and I used to beat myself up about this I was talking to a buddy I was talking to Joe list about this recently because we both were commiserating over the fact that we have friends who sit down and they have a notebook and I'm sure that I'm not.
spk_0
And they write all their stuff out and that's just not how I do it the way that I do it is I take those ideas and I I put them in my head I don't have a pen and paper on hand a lot of time when I do this and I go for a walk I go for a walk and sometimes I'll leave my phone at home and I'll just go for a walk and have those ideas bouncing around my head no phone no screens no distractions and I think them out sometimes I'll talk them out this is going to sound insane but if you do have your phone on you sometimes I'll do this.
spk_0
Insane thing where I put my phone up to my head so that people don't think I'm crazy and I talk out ideas and I it's I don't do that as much and you like during Corona days but you got it you got to get creative with how you do it and my buddy my best friend when I started out in comedy this hilarious dude Josh Murphy who he has clips online to check out he's out of the game right now but hopefully comes back but he told me that he would write
spk_0
with his legs like he was like I'm way better on my feet if I'm moving around I figured out that's how I write and I was baffled by that because I was like what are you talking about writing is you're at your computer you're at the desk with a candle and and you're writing and it's this romantic thing and it's that's not how everybody works some people do do that some people Tommy John again is a good friend of mine and somebody I look up to greatly and is a brilliant program
spk_0
and I was a prolific writer told me he had a system where he had multiple notebooks going at once one was for free writing one was where he would take the best ideas of the free writing and sharpen them in this one notebook and then the last one was like finalizing and polishing I think I could I could be screwing that up I just remember it was three notebooks that worked for him as a new writer you just got to try everything you got a throat against the wall see what works for you when I look back at the stand up that I have then I was like I can't do that.
spk_0
It worked I can remember every single bit where I was when it happened and almost never was it me sitting at a computer or in front of my notebook it's almost always that I was at the gym or I was on a walk or not honestly 75% of it was I was in my car because a lot of times when I'm like if you're in a place where you have a car and you can just be alone in it turn the radio off don't or maybe turn like something non distracting on and just talk just talk your
spk_0
ideas out because that's what you're doing when you do stand up you're talking so it makes sense that it might not click for you
spk_0
that you're writing these things down and they're not hitting the same because a lot of times when you thought of something it was when you were talking to your friend and you were like oh that's a funny idea
spk_0
and it's because you're in a different mindset when you're just talking to your friend I hope that was helpful for you Samantha and I hope that was a nice enough bow I got one last thing here we got man we did get a joke detective it's not
spk_0
really a joke detective but it's I did like it here we go we have one last joke detective for you guys all right one last ride one last knock on the door one last wrapping at my doorway
spk_0
and I answer and it's Bradley Burzinski and I say David Bradley I don't got any gas left in the tank and he says I need you just one last time
spk_0
and I say I'll try my best damn it
spk_0
uh Bradley says Tom this isn't really your typical joke detective but here it goes I'm currently watching my
spk_0
probilias special my boyfriend's girlfriend he mentions a fellow comedian named Andy that he hangs out with I immediately thought of Andy
spk_0
would hole do you know if that's the Andy's referring to anyway probilias a blind spot for me I'd heard of him but never watched a special
spk_0
guy to tell you I like the guy I like I love the way you weaves the stories and jokes together I watched thank God
spk_0
for jokes and was hooked funny stuff looking forward to my usual Thursday morning podcast Bradley I can tell you
spk_0
with full confidence that that is not Andy would hole Andy Andy is a dear dear friend of mine who a fellow
spk_0
writer on a the movie show on sci-fi which we both were on an episode of this past Thursday check that
spk_0
out on sci-fi it's s-y-f-y the movie show we wrote on it and we we have little roles in it's pretty fun
spk_0
um I don't believe that is Andy would all if it is I would be really shocked I was trying to do some research on this I
spk_0
almost texted Mike I probably should have just done that if I had seen this before I started the show if I had
spk_0
thought it to do this earlier I would have done it and annoyed Mike burpically who is a very nice man who puts up with my
spk_0
shit sometimes I was doing some research and I found this guy that it might be who was gonna be in
spk_0
in burpically as pilots it's Andrew secundi but I don't know if he's a stand-up or not is the problem
spk_0
and that's what he's asking for so this might be not I looked at the bit that you're talking about it might
spk_0
not be a comedian but I can't I can't tell so I'm sorry uh that is uh that is all I just know that
spk_0
it's not Andy would hold so I got I got that much for you but that's it for the joke detective this is
spk_0
the joke detective signing off gotta get back to my family finally see if I can give my kids back yeah
spk_0
you're really over it's really over now it's really yeah it is over we got one more clip though we got
spk_0
one more clip for people like I said I pulled out all the stops this week I I decided to give myself
spk_0
a nice little comedy gift by playing some of my favorite comedians of all time or we've already played
spk_0
Bamford and Gaff again I've talked about him ad nauseam on this show because I it's it's another guy
spk_0
that I just watched it at the influence me a lot um Nick Swartzson uh his his comedy central
spk_0
presents both of them and his his album uh party they they just really blew me away he was so funny
spk_0
on Reno 9-1-1 and like he he just I remember when I first started out I was like I want to be like
spk_0
that guy like career wise I want to do the things he does sketch and he does uh he acts and he's
spk_0
he's a hilarious stand up and I was like that is he just he's so funny in everything he does I just
spk_0
thought I just thought it was really cool and uh I'm I'm really glad I get to end the show with a
spk_0
clip from him it's uh it's a really silly one from his second comedy center presents he did two of
spk_0
them the first one was a huge hit and they had a second one for him too and it was big two and
spk_0
both were great here is Nick Swartzson from his comedy center presents season 10
spk_0
so yeah I could be back I flew in flew in this week was at the airports no I was going through
spk_0
security and they have a big sign when you go through security of things that you can't bring
spk_0
on the plane and uh one of the things on the sign is a bomb which I thought was cool you know
spk_0
I mean just in case people don't know some people might not know don't bring your bomb dude don't
spk_0
bring it yeah leave it at home nobody wants to see your bomb nobody wants to hear it that's like
spk_0
on the sign and they have like a picture of a bomb like someone's gonna walk up with a bomb like
spk_0
when did that start I can't bring my bomb to Hawaii
spk_0
oh pissed off but my favorite thing about the sign was the picture of the bomb that they used
spk_0
was like an old time bomb picture you know what I mean it was like the bowling ball with a wick
spk_0
coming out of it I'm like who still has that bomb is that bomb still out there is that
spk_0
bomb a threat to our country that bomb like what old school terrorist is still dragging it around
spk_0
his friends are like what are you doing like shut up I'm gonna blow some up like what a dollhouse
spk_0
what are you doing like if that's your bomb of choice that's a horrible bomb to use you can't
spk_0
do any damage with that it's not subtle you know you can't walk up somewhere like I'm gonna blow this place up
spk_0
just walking around security's like whoa whoa what do you got there buddy
spk_0
what are you talking about what's that sound um I made some fajitas
spk_0
they're fresh I haven't ovened my car
spk_0
just blows up like a drinking fountain they guys like all right
spk_0
where'd he go
spk_0
all right
spk_0
all right that was Nick Swartzon from his company central presents and like I said if you like
spk_0
to show this week and if you like to show it all I'm not making it specific to this week because
spk_0
I have a very special uh longer list for you guys because I don't want to leave you guys
spk_0
hanging and I want you guys to check out these comics a lot of people have said that they've
spk_0
found a lot of new comedians through the show and I want you guys to look up the people I'm about to
spk_0
I'm about to list so here we go Sean Jackson it's a S H A W N uh Jackson he just put out now
spk_0
and he's just a killer he I was hosting uh this NBC showcase that I had never seen him before
spk_0
and he just blew me away and uh I told him I was like anything I can ever do for you I'd love to
spk_0
get your name out there and he's he's killing it so check him out um also uh my buddy Tommy
spk_0
McNamara he just put out a Christmas album it's very funny he co-hosts stand by your band with me
spk_0
he's one of my best friends and uh truly a killer comedian I'm not friends with uh
spk_0
shady comedians it's it's kind of a it's kind of a problem for me I can't look people in the eyes
spk_0
if they're if they're not if they're not funny so uh the next one is uh Martin Urbano who uh he
spk_0
owes the show on Chris Getherard's uh presents show I don't care remember what it's called now but
spk_0
it's his show is called Who Wants To Sixty Nine it's like who wants to be a millionaire but it's
spk_0
two dollars and sixty nine cents and he's just so funny I've played him on the show before he's
spk_0
just a killer uh the next one I've talked so much about that you probably sick of it but Daniel
spk_0
Simonson is just the funniest person I can't think of a person I'd rather watch do comedy right now
spk_0
and if you get the chance to see him he's killing it like he's doing he's still doing a million
spk_0
shows somehow and just working his ass off but he has this new chunk that I don't want to I'm not
spk_0
gonna give any of it away but it's uh it's just I I watch him and I go god damn it like I just I
spk_0
it makes you want to go home and write that's that that's when you know somebody's great uh the
spk_0
next one I've played her on the show before you might already love her and know her but if you
spk_0
haven't looked her up she's just one of the fucking best uh Amy Blotnik Amy Blotnik is so funny uh you
spk_0
can hear her on my other podcast uh stand by your band uh doing some doing some fun episodes but
spk_0
also she has a half hour she has uh multiple late night sets check her out uh Shalei was sharp
spk_0
also great uh you can see her uh she she did some stuff on Fallon that was really funny so uh
spk_0
check that out but also just just a great comic she does she has a set on Comedy Central that I
spk_0
I actually I played a little bit of on here uh next one is Sam Evans uh Brooklyn comic out of Ohio
spk_0
another dear friend of mine who is just an absolute killer underrated does not get the credit
spk_0
he deserves in my opinion and he just kills it every time I see him I've I've never seen the guy
spk_0
not do well uh next up Jordan Jensen uh another comic she who lives in Brooklyn she just is a murderer
spk_0
she's crazy she I've never seen somebody so loose on stage and still so killer it's uh it's
spk_0
it's it's spectacular to see uh then Marsha Belzky who I've played on the show she has the song
spk_0
100 tampons the one I think it went viral she's killing it uh just a very very creative person
spk_0
she does so much shit she writes plays she's she's just a genius and uh the last one is uh New Zealand's
spk_0
known Guy Montgomery who's again one of the funniest uh people of all time he has a podcast called uh
spk_0
though I believe it's called the worst idea of all time and uh he just watches him and his buddy just
spk_0
watched the same movie every week for a year and it's like grown-ups too or like uh sex in the city
spk_0
too he's done a few different ones and he's just so fucking funny and he has a Comedy Central
spk_0
stand-up featuring set that you can see on the Comedy Central stand-up YouTube page which I
spk_0
highly recommend that's the last Tom Tacargar them although if you want more just DME or something
spk_0
message me head Tom A to car THA KKAR follow me on that stuff I'd love to stay in touch with
spk_0
listeners of this show of comedy related questions or who just want to watch my stand-up and stuff
spk_0
that would be really cool and follow at coach underscore THA uh that's gonna do it for stand-up
spk_0
with Tom Tacar I love doing this and I'm very grateful for everybody who who listen to this and
spk_0
I'm grateful as hell to you coach you got any last things you want to say to these people nothing
spk_0
at all man you guys are awesome thank you for uh listening all right thanks a lot guys uh we will
spk_0

spk_0
